Popeye is 75 years old this year ( pic )
OK, most diaper equiped posters here don't know who he is ...
http://i.a.cnn.net/cnn/2004/SHOWBIZ/...exhibit.ap.jpg Put away the cake. Pass the spinach. Popeye celebrates his 75th birthday this year, animated evidence that a steady diet of leafy green vegetables and pipe smoking can guarantee you Hulk Hogan forearms as a septuagenarian. To honor the veteran sailor man, the Museum of Television and Radio unveiled a retrospective Saturday featuring rarities and collectibles from the cartoon hero's career. "There are very few characters that are that old and still in the public consciousness," said Barry Monush, curator of the exhibit. "It's quite impressive to stick around that long and stay recognizable." Recognizable? Who could forget that face, with its jutting jaw and permanently squinting right eye? Or those arms, with the signature anchor tattoos? http://edition.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/....ap/index.html Anobody rembers OLIVE or the fat guy eating those hamburgers.... |
i never got the point of popeye... did ANY of the eps have a plot, other than something happening causing popeye to eat spinach and grow muscles.
his spinach sounds a little too much like anabolics |

I was looking at your post count and wondering how drctfiesta passed me up... :1orglaugh |
I never understood the deal with Olive Oyle...why in god's name did they fight over that cracked out, skinny bitch is beyond me.
Maybe Popeye should have fed that skinny ho some of his spinach! The real life movie with Robin Williams was pretty kickass though. With his professional masturbater forearms and all. |
I remember when I was hella young (like 4 or 5) I used to LOVE popeye cartoons. My first pets were gold fish and they were all named after the various characters.
My Popeye named gold fish lived to be like 8 or 9. |
Popeye was the shit can't wait to get the new dvd...

That guy's forearms are so massive, that he must have the kind of grip that can crush your hand like a small bag of Doritos. Happy birthday Popeye, you ALMOST got me to eat my spinach! :thumbsup

It was an epiphany. I'll be more careful in the future. |
I used to love watching that show! I thought the point of the show is to try to get you to ear green plants, even if it taste bad, it's good for you.
