Moving to Portland, what can you tell me?

So I'm considering a move to Portland Oregon, maybe, not sure yet.. Who's got info on the city?

Tell me about some different parts of the town, cool bars, where I can get a crackwhore, 24hr breakfast joints, different neighborhoods, etc..

thanks :)

Rantan 11-13-2004 12:31 PM

why move to portland? it's a very liberal town

marzzo 11-13-2004 12:36 PM

I'm the one asking the questions here, not you :321GFY

Rantan 11-13-2004 12:38 PM

bah!..ok whatever, i live here, jus wondering what your main reason was for moving here, bitch!:)

marzzo 11-13-2004 12:39 PM

haha, it's cold here in Minnesota, and I like the ocean. :)

Spunky 11-13-2004 12:39 PM

Ask Boneprone..he lives there

Rantan 11-13-2004 12:42 PM

well, it rains a lot, you're only an hour from the ocean, and most homes have good heaters so you won't worry about being cold...

marzzo 11-13-2004 12:46 PM

The rain is fine, I need a change most of all. I have friends up around those parts so I'll be able to visit again soon.

Rantan 11-13-2004 12:48 PM

make sure you walk around down town portland, we have some crazy people down town.

marzzo 11-13-2004 01:05 PM

I could live with 2 transexual fags:

Yeah...If you like to smoke pot, hug trees, cook meth, drink coffee, and stick your nose in the air while doing it all.

I can't wait to get the fuck outta here next week.

marzzo 11-13-2004 01:18 PM

Most of the East side is Methtown. Most of North Portland is gangland (though nothing compared to SoCal). Downtown is somewhat nice. Anwhere slightly south or west is good (Lake Oswego, Beaverton, Sylvan Hills).

I currently live about 10 miles south of downtown and like it. It can get rainy and cold, but nothing like MN - usually snow doesn't stick around for long in the valleys. Sometimes there will be 60+ rainy days in a row, but it's usually intermittent with sun breaks.

Anywhere near downtown is full of hippie-liberal types. There's lots of homeless urchin kids who beg for drug money too. It sucks because there's some cool stuff downtown, but you gotta put up with those scumbags ...

I'm gonna relocate to Santa Monica, CA for 5 days then possibly Toronto for a week..THEN Maui the week after that.

Never said I was moving. I travel a lot to avoid this shithole of a town.

Sounds like paradise!

Why don't you just move? You've been complaining about Portland for ages.

marzzo 11-13-2004 02:14 PM

I lived in San Diego for a while and really liked it. Especially the weather.

yeah, you will love Portland then, it has a nice downtown area,
including clubs, and restaraunts, good shopping, and a college , along to mention washington park is the second largest(central park NY city) and is located right down town...

plus veiws of two mountains including the Volcano Mt. St. Helens

Tat2Jr 11-13-2004 05:47 PM

I love Portland, but moved to SoCal 5 years ago to escape the constant rain and gloomy skies. If it wasn't for the weather I'd still be there. I miss it so much.

I've lived EVERY where in that town from NW, to downtown, to gangland NE, Meth central SE, Sellwood, Beaverton, Lake O, ect. ect. I've never had a problem in any area except NE (the gangs had gun battles every night). NW is awesome if you can afford it. Beaverton and Lake Owsego are nice suburbs to live in.

The girls party hard in Portland. Because of the rain they prefer "indoor sports". :) Plus there's a strip club on every corner!

Downtown Portland is an awesome town. Love the culture, and it's very pretty. Yes, there are street kids, but they're easy enough to deal with.

Oh, and something I totally miss down here in SoCal..... when you let someone in your lane in traffic they give you the wave. Damn I miss the wave.

Fred Quimby 11-13-2004 05:50 PM

what the hell is in portland?

What's up with that crazy volcano thing anyways, is it going to blow or is it still threatening?

Maybe I should wait until it settles :)

it's a cool place and home of the one of my favorite NBA team, the trail blazers.

ImLost 11-14-2004 07:35 AM

i might be moving to portland as well

Goatse 11-15-2004 08:52 AM

Portland itself sucks, but the small towns around it are pretty cool. Beavertown, Garden Grove, Banks, etc. Beautiful forests, lush vegetation, fairly mellow people...

Nasty D 11-15-2004 09:03 AM

Portland has got alot to offer, in two hours you can be kicking it at coast or hitting ski lifts on Mt. Hood. If you like outdoor shit its got it much to do. Winters suck for people who hate rain, but thats what makes it so GREEN!

Downtown , NW Pearl and SE dive bars is where to party!

Boneprone knows all the hot spots!

Acrop :glugglug

mcfly 11-15-2004 09:09 AM

powell's is the best bookstore in the world. it's downtown portland.

portland, like most places, has positives and negatives. personally, i can't take the weather but it is awesome to be so close to both the beach and the mountains. if you like lush, beautiful forests, there are few places better.

hope you like it there! there are a lot of fun people in that area.

webmaster x 11-15-2004 09:16 AM

it's acool place man.
