The Sex Pistols kick fucking ass. I mean hell, any punk band that more or less gets kicked out of their own country is real punk, unlike today where any band with purple hair and suspenders is considered punk.

Imagine that - original punk being 'simplistic'. Who have thought it. There was poor little me thinking that manufactured, overworked pop was the idea behind punk :glugglug

For about the zillionth time - the guy wasn't even plugged in. Rotten was the Pistols and the one that the public over here feared (and the media still does in many ways to a lesser degree). Of all the famous incidents that kick started to punk wave in the UK Sid wasn't even involved with most of them.

The Pistols created a revolution - a real social one - in this country. The type of which I don't see another band ever doing. However, musically they aren't my faveorite punk band even if I do really like many of their songs.

I am an old punk fan most..I like modern punk too but there is something about 70's and early 80's punk that just sets my body on fire.

You seriously don't understand what a big deal Anarchy in the Uk and God Save The Queen were if you think they were simplistic and yes, I do like the vocal style. That would be why I like older punk :)

(Though I still say the Buzzcocks were a trillion times better musically)

Did they make a movie about rotten? Sid was punk, he was the image behind the sex pistols. That is why he was part of the band. He didnt need to play, he drew the crowd!

No he wasn't..he wasn't even in the Pistols for that long. And ever heard of the Great Rock And Roll Swindle? MANY things have been done about Rotten and anyway he was who brought Sid into the band.

I know a lot of people that surrounded the pistols at the time due to my husband having worked for their publicity team at the time (he is a lot older than me) and to a man each one of them will point out just how little he had to do with the actual band. Sid was a junkie, yes he has become an iconic junkie but sometime listen to Rotten talk about him. He cared a great deal about him.

GBH and Conflict will be playing in Leeds tomorrow Sat 13th along with a load of others. Tickets £13 :thumbsup

Sid was not in the original lineup of the bad. The lineup that went on tour a couple or so years ago reunited the original lineup. If you're even remotely a Pistols fan and have never seen "The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle" it's worth a trip to amazon.com to pick up:thumbsup
