Lee Bitches - Why the hesitation?

For the life of me I just do not understand the hesitancy about the business model of adding a DVD rental store to your paysites or high traffic websites.

Have you been burned in the past with traffic leaks and backdoors?

Do you think this DVD rental idea will suck like the big expectations from toy stores [some exceptions, I understand do well]

What is it?

How can you not be open to the idea of a surfer can:

a) Rent UNLIMITED numbers of adult DVD's

b) They are shipped discreet to their home

c) They can KEEP them as long as they want, no late fee's

d) They are provided a return mailing envelope.

All this for $19.99 a month..........

AND.

YOU get paid $25 a member.

YOU can tie this into your affiliate program.

I know I am bitching but that is because:

a) I can

When I see you mofo's in Vegas we are going to talk.

I just do not get the resistance, and I would love it if you could step up the plate and fill me in so I can understand the concerns.

Have at it, I am really interested to get a handle on this, and I respect your honesty and thats why I am here :-)

Ya don't even have to be gentle *smirk*

PS--Here is a sample engine, no customized skin, just engine.

Tell me you don't think this would sell to the surfers.

There's no real reason why someone wouldn't add it to their member area, Lee. I've thought it was a great idea since I saw it a few months ago, just needs some marketing, it seems.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYY!

i love to see lee on the boards like old times. now i don't feel like we are the only ones that rock the boat a little.

KK babee! I heard you were in S. FLA with Muffin and them and I was so badly wanted to come down and hang with the girls. Hopefully I will get a chance to see you in Vegas, it has been 3 years since I have gone to that show.

3 of the 5 hurricanes that hit florida hammered me and I still have alot of damage to deal with.

KK, honestly...I think it is a great idea but there is such a "dunno, wait and see, hmmm/hah response"....about all I can think of is folks are trying to compare this to the overall "toy store" retail business model and the two cannot be compared.

I feel like I need to carry a club and boink companies on the head until they give me an ear and I can prove otherwise. But if I carry a club around I would run out of holes to notch on it :-))))

It is exacerbating trying to overcome this hurdle, and I am seriously trying to find out what the hestitation is....

Personally, we have a toy/rental store a mile from my home and there is NO way I would ever go in and rent....I am way to shy. But I like movies and I would love to have them shipped to me.

Is it because other companies are not comfortable in partnerships? Do they feel this is a ploy to steal members? Do they fear traffic leaks, what is it?

Mr. VideoPass dahling...are we not ICQ'd at the hip, 111472. You were awesome on the radio show last week.

Now, I need to get KK on the air with me :-)

We tend not to like upsells. We especially aren't fond of upsells that encourage the customer to get off the computer and go watch tv.

i think its a little bit of both lately. i have had some similar dealings with webmasters. i've noticed since days gone by that it takes alot longer to build a trust than it used to in the old days. thats a good thing.

Hey Lee :)

It's a moneymaker for sure!

I was just thinking about all the people I know that rent from Netflix. Now they can get porn dvd's too!

Makes sense to me!

:thumbsup

Can you get sued by Netflix for infringing on their patent(s) ?

Excellant feedback. Have you seen a correlation in the past? Do you think DVD rentals are a threat to paysites and will erode the paysite business model? You do not see the two as complimentary?

As I understand it there is no infringing here, was a question I had when I first saw it back in the spring as well.

When it comes to your product folks would be total idiots not to want to explore those things that set your product aside from others. We talked about this on the air a little, and the times have changed.

Dunno, if webmasters are more conservative and do not want to deviate and try new things, or they don't care as much and the bottom line appreciated now is good enough...

I know what you mean, and I would think the community would want to try the new things on the market since they are so much more refined from what may be similar on the market.

Example, CE is always evaluating content Content has really come along way over the years and there is so many choices now. But the interfaces, and value given to the surfer have made great strides but folks take their time to explore what is new and why it has more surfer appeal....

I understand the slow grow syndrome well :-)) But once you get somebody to try something, they are so loving it but getting them to deviate can be a challenge sometimes.

We recently took some content from a company because we loved the interface and wanted to put it out there and WOWEE so did the members and they hammered this new product,

So on one end you can see the members loving it when something new is added, and it begs the question why the owners are so slow in injecting something new and exciting.

I just don't get it....maybe J$ can explain it :-))

I'm not Farrell- that's my brother.

Not taking a "Swipe"- it was a legit question.

Thanks KK for replying to my question.

As always, good luck Lee.

Oops, sorry sweetie. I guess I get a little defensive when I see "homegrown" in the name because of the amount of swipes I have gotten in the past.

Thanks for the well wishes :-)) Be well as always.

I don't think it was a swipe Lee, it was a very legitimate question. It was one of the first things out of my mouth when I first saw this product.
