I am talking about Yaser Arafat who won the Nobel Peace prize in 1994. Israel and the Jewish lobby I guess did a great job making Arafat a terrorist. Mossad has more innocent civilian blood on its hands than all the terrorist organizations in Palestine combined.

I think Arafat was a great leader of his people. Obviously he took advantage of his power financially, but like Castro he was the man in charge for many decades so for that you have to give him some credit.

No doubt he ordered a lot of terrorist attacks on Israel. So you have to acknowldege that as well.

I got a kick out of him. Who else could keep one little terrority of only 3 million people in the news virtually every single day for so long.

I, for one, am glad he's dead.

The Palistinians have had a horrible life since he took control. Today, they're at a "fork in the road." They can either continue they way they've been going and continue to enjoy a life of hell, OR, they can begin to come together as a people and a nation, consider peace with their neighbors and enjoy a full and productive life.

It's their choice and it'll be interesting to see what they choose.

I don't understand how a person's relative affects the person's abilities, personality, opinions, life and decisions.

It could possibly give some insight into the culture & upbringing that turned this guy into an anti-semetic, child murdering uber-terrorist.

How do you know that the bulk of that 1.3 Billion siphoned from his people wasn't used to fund clandestine operations against Israel?

Did Israeli intelligence also drop the figure the PLO spent on that as well?

Or are you supposed to assume that no such operations occurred and in turn assume that any "missing money" MUST have went straight into Arafats pockets?

Why would some people hate him?

Well, we could start with the fact that he was planning and executing the Hijacking of planes in the 60s and 70s, until he was kicked out of Lybia, then went on to plan, and finance thousands of murders specifically targeting women and children.

He took billions in aid money (millions of it from the US), that was meant to give his people a better life and instead stuck it in banks (mostly in France), while his people STILL don't have proper sewage and electricity.

That in 2000, when he had a chance to have a palistinian state, he turned it down so that he could stay in power.

The list goes on, and on. Even though some could say that there were people on the other side that were no better, that STILL doesn't make him a good guy.:2 cents:
