I will DDOS your email server for 6 days straight JUST BEFORE

i'll put in the transfer request for your domain name..

This is how it'll work:

I'll hold your email server down.

I'll put in a request to transfer your domain.

Since your email server will be busy dealing with my packets you can forget about ACK/NACK transfer request coming through from your registar.

And your domains will be mine!

Disclaimer: I would never do such a thing but you can bet your bottom dollar that this will happen. Good luck trying to keep your domain names!

goBigtime 11-10-2004 05:15 AM

brb... checking to make sure all my domains are locked.

What fucking idiots. :BangBang:

There has got to be some crazy conspiracy or something behind them doing this. WTF are they thinking???

While they're at it, why don't they make new spam law where you have to OPT-OUT to unsolicited email rather than having to OPT-IN first.

::shakes head::

Another method I thought about this very moment is mass-mailing the user with fake ACK/NACK transfer requests. It'll take him ages to find the real one.

Agreed. This has got to be the most stupid thing ICANN has done.

There has to be something behind this.... they can't be that fucking dumb or they wouldn't have been put in that position in the first place.... right??

Fizzgig 11-10-2004 05:19 AM

I've locked everything I can already, gotta wait for hubby to wake up to get the rest cuz I'm not sure the info to access them.

Maybe I'll be able to get this domain I've been after for years with this! :winkwink:

dij 11-10-2004 05:19 AM

Not a bad idea, but with the right filters ran against the email headers you could probably filter out the junk from the real..I dont think people are smart enough to do the filtering though ;)

Yankee Scum 11-10-2004 05:19 AM

man it is a bitch to lock +500 domains in several accounts....

crap!

goBigtime 11-10-2004 05:23 AM

what about the people who have an outdated email? Or like someone said... they are just out on vacation.

Hmmm and right around the holidays when everyone will be taking off.

Man.

What a fucking joke.

If they were, then DDOS's wouldn't be such a threat these days in the first place.
(since people would know what they need to do to stay secure)

Maybe it's a conspiracy between all the domain registrars, to lock a domain is now free, but in a few months they come out saying it costs too much money to lock all these domains and that we now have to pay a per domain fee to lock our domains :(

.

Just realized that too, that's even more fucked up!

Odin88 11-10-2004 05:29 AM

If I where a thief, boy I'd fucking hammer this system. So easy to rip, and I'd have a bot running in a day or two. So tempting...

It's going to be something like that.

This is just too idiotic for there not to be some sneaky reason behind why they are doing it.

crockett 11-10-2004 07:43 AM

I'm not sure if you can do it.. but can you use a different contact E-mail in your personal profile at the domain registrar? This would get around that problem as the whois info e-mail would be diffrent.

The other thing is to simply make sure all your names are locked. If you lose a name it's really your own fault. There is no reason to leave a name unlocked.

contact your registrar.. if they are a decant company they will lock them for you.. if they don't offer a bulk way of doing it.
