How do you go about making...........
How do you go about making an animated gif from video footage?
|
haha i like your sig, no clue on your question though.

I'm hazy from the cold medicine but I think I did it by outputing the frames to a directory as indiviual pictures using Adobe Premiere then just loaded them up in Image Ready. Damn I forget the specifics.

you can do it with Flash. Just import the video you want into layer 1. remove frames till you have it as short as you want, then export as animated gif.
Flash wont always break a video down into frames however. |
how long is the video you want made into a gif? and what format?

Need to find out a few things before I can answer this question properly ...
1. Do you have or are you familuar with any mid range video editing software such as adobe premier for PC or final cut for the MAC. If thats the case, both those programs, and most video editing programs for that matter, have an exporting feature where you can export the video to many different formats, including animated gifs ... sometimes you need to install extra ad-ons to get these export filters though. 2. If the answer to question 1 is 'no' then your best bet is to create one yourself screenshot by screenshot. You will need 2 things for this. A Video capture program (NOT a Video Editing program) and a program that can make you animated gifs. I would reccommend 'capture wiz' to capture the images, and 'Adobe Imageready' for the animated gifs. 3. Are you familuar with macromedia flash? You can import a movie into there and then export that same movie as an animated gif ... the latest version of flash mx 2004 has an inbuilt very basic video editing program. After writing all this, i think there is probably an easier much more straight forward and simple way which i just havent thought about ... its always the way :1orglaugh |
here is one way
take a few vidcaps and drop them into photoshop drag them all ontop of each other in layers export to image ready open animation pallete check what layer you want shown and for how long save as animated gif |
Adobe Premiere can do it.
