What do you think of this mainstream splash page?

Going for simplicity here.. it's for a site for a musician (rapper).

its a bit to simple for my liking. maybe you should make it abit easier for the surfer to veiw ? make it a bit easier to see.

I hate splash pages.. reduce bookmarks, take up server space, and most of all piss people off. But they asked for both a splash design and design for the main interface :Oh crap

I was going for big contrast. Vast amounts of red with black/white focal points attract the eye to the image of the rapper.

Put some kind of fade [black bottom to current color top] into the lettering and then darken him up a bit.. .

Nothing wrong with having the dude be off center either, I'd move him to the left a little closer to those lines or incorporate the 2.

The image of the rapper is just plain whack! It looks like there should be something underneath him...it doesn't look like a natural position. :2 cents:
