I fucked up Change in how the scam works.
They send you a virus/trojan
It changes to hosts file in C:\windows\system32\drivers\ect It adds this exact line of code. 67.19.193.93 ww.escrow.com 67.19.193.93 www.escrow.com 67.19.193.93 wwwww.escrow.com 67.19.193.93 escrow.com 67.19.193.93 iescrow.com 67.19.193.93 escrow.ca 67.19.193.93 ww.escrow.ca 67.19.193.93 www.escrow.ca 67.19.193.93 wwwww.escrow.ca Everything else is just part of the scam. The live help The Last transactions the person made ect. I am still at an awe at how far people will go. =-) |

This makes more sense than yesterdays post (explanation)
but altering the hosts file is nothing new. there are literally hundreds of these phishing scams targetting ever major online financial institution. This scam is far too complicated anyways. If you have the ability to run a trojan on the users computer, then why change the hosts file, why not just run a silent keylogger. Much simpler and easier to control. |
