Will I get sued over this? [pic]

I?m sponsoring an Extreme Dodge Ball league and I came up with this simple logo but the question I have is; will I get sued over it? I obviously used the NBA logo as a reference but is it different enough to not be sued for infringing on a trademark?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

When left alone in school gym class, we tended to use softballs for this game. Maybe that's extreme?

Do a side by side with the NBA logo. I wouldn't think so, because it's different enough. The IFBB uses a logo a lot like that, only it's a silhouette of a guy hitting a double bicep pose.

I've seen a number of logos that seem to parady the NBA logo. I would guess that unless you get major media attention, you are fine.

Of course, copyright law is tricky and sometimes requires trademark holders to "aggressively defend their mark." Even if they know your use is cool.

a lot of companies have used very similar logos.. I think even IRL the racing series uses one close to the NBA's..

reynold 11-08-2004 02:56 PM

I don't think so. it's dodgeball anyway.

Yeah looks pretty nice. I hope that nothing happens. It looks a lot different.

The ball is made of C4 plates and the opposing players are wearing statically charged suits. :)

J-Reel 11-08-2004 04:50 PM

Nice design!!

I'd go ahead and use it, but have a back up ready just in case you get that C & D letter.
