How many plane crashes?
 

I heard 5 on the radio, but I think it's really 4. From CNN:


CNN) -- All airports in the United States have been closed by order of the Federal Aviation Administration -- the first time in U.S. history that air traffic nationwide has been halted.

? American Airlines Flight 11 en route from Boston to Los Angeles

? American Airlines Flight 77 en route from Dulles Airport near Washington to Los Angeles

? United Airlines Flight 93 en route from Newark, New Jersey to San Francisco

? United Airlines 175 en route from Boston to Los Angeles

All international flights heading for the U.S. have been diverted to Canada, the FAA said.

The orders came after two separate airliners crashed into the twin towers of New York's World Trade Center Tuesday morning, collapsing them in clouds of smoke in what U.S. officials called "an apparent terrorist act."

Another aircraft crashed at the Pentagon and part of that building collapsed.

And in another incident, an airliner crashed near Somerset, Pennsylvania, and police said initial reports indicated no survivors.

American Airlines said it had lost two planes in "tragic incidents" and United Airlines said one of its planes was the crash in Pennsylvania and another had also crashed, but would not say where.

United Airlines has grounded all of its flights worldwide.

A 9:45 a.m. EDT message from the FAA hotline in Atlanta, Georgia, said that all domestic flights en route to their destinations will be able to continue. The pilot and airline involved will make the decision on where they will land.

"This was a measure we took because we thought it was prudent," FAA spokeswoman Laura Brown said.

I think their is a plane missing, so they may have counted that.

CNN says that there are 4 planes missing, but it's specualted that the 4 missing were the 4 that have crashed, but it hasn't been confirmed as of yet that the planes missing are the ones that crashed.

2 - crashed into WTC towers
1 - crashed into Pentagon
1 - crashed into a field heading toward camp david

News is sketchy at best on any other attacks.

I heard one was pulled down in YUKON....

The plane in the Yukon was actually a Korean Airliner that ran out of fuel

i still remember these posts when i was stuck in Italy reading them all not knowing what the fuck was going on.

Very disturbing and shocked to say the least.

These old 9-11-01 posts are disturbing yet quite intresting.

I can't watch Television today, they just keep showing them planes going into the buildings.

It really does seem like just yesterday. A very sad day indeed!!!

I remember it. I remember being terrified. I remember watching it for hours; I saw the second plane as it hit the second tower, and I watched as both towers fell.

I had a good friend who was one of the thousands killed. I remember being scared for him and not knowing until his father called two days later.

Scary shit. Very scary shit and monumentally sad. Once the shock had worn down a bit, it became ferociously vindictive and angry, a nation united by pure, unadulterated hatred of those who had caused so many deaths and destruction.

For those who lost friends, neighbors, family or children, you have my sympathies and condolances. Three years ago, fifty years ago, the pain is still there. :(
