AFF - Is this allowed?
Adult Friend Finder - Prohibited Traffic Technique
Yesterday, while surfing a mainstream site, I got a pop-up from Adult Friend Finder. I traced the source of the pop-up, and it is Standard Internet's popuptraffic program. Far as I know, promoting AFF to mainstream traffic is strictly prohibited by the Friend Finder franchise. Here's the link: http://adultfriendfinder.com/go/p123790.subaffpop2 and it's served up by: http://z1.adserver.com/w/cp.x;rid=8...dt=3;ac=7;c=415 And, yes, Standard Internet is the company that regularily denies any involvement in spyware/adware. Strange...reloading their popuptraffic code several times yesterday produced the following windows: *spywarestormer - a "spyware" removal program which has been included in most security lists as a trojan *funwebproducts - another known trojan *free screensavers - wow, do people still fall for this one *game assistant - adds adware / search override to your browser *a ton of programs from casalemedia - you don't have to look far on any security board or McAfee or Norton, to find this company listed Way to go Standard Internet...you and 12Clicks must be shaking in your boots about the impending spyware/adware legislation. Frankly, it will be nice to see you scramble. |
:eek7
What's the problem beeing involved in adware? A lot of the Fortune 500 companies are ... :Graucho |

If the search function was up and I did a search on you, I can GUARANTEE that you don't come on this board for anything else but snitching. Jesus, you're an annoying asspimple. |
I don't deny it ... If the common scum on this board can't manage to make a lving by following basic rules, and treating their fellow humans with respect..then they are all fair game.
And don't expect any apologies to be given or forthcoming ... |

You whine about petty shit all day long and it matters to nobody else but you. What happened to the FBI who was supposed to be showing up at my house because I shot (photographically) a girl who said she had HIV and didn't tell anybody? I'm still waiting. They probably saw that complaint of yours and laughed. Focus on your own business. That snitching will come back on you big time. |
In this business everyone is allowed to break the rules if they can provide significant traffic.
|
Not when it goes against the programs TOS.
Strange, here's Standard Internets own TOS: The action of sending any hits from any URLs which contain and/or promote the following content: adult content or any type of pornography, warez, MP3s, ROMs, EMUs, newsgroup postings, spam e-mails, teen model websites, non-nude teen sites or any other site which contains content or promotes activities which are illegal in the united states without the prior written consent of SIC will result in the immediate cancellation of the account from which the hits were sent and the forfeiture of any funds owed to that account. And yet, here they are, serving an erotic AFF ad, with suggestive language, to an audience that, through their own regulations, they have assured is a mainstream audience. AFF has the last word on this, but I can't see it as being acceptable. I, for one, extensively promote AFF, but the only way anyone will see my ads is if they have followed a link from a verified Adult Only area. Kiddies aren't my customers, nor are adults who are offended by this type of product. |
:warning sheriff
mind your own stuff |
And I can guarantee, next time someone comes onto the board and complains about their computer being taken over by spyware or commissions being lost to devious scripts, you will all cry...threaten to take down the companies server..and blah blah blah.
But, then Ron / 12 Clicks will appear, and you will all pucker up, waiting for a stroke from the puffed up bbs geek. Although his company alone is known as a major player and distributor of all things spyware. I call it as I see it. And I've taken equal liberties with all the scamming losers on this board, and that includes our host, Adult.com, Pornkings, and pretty much every other sponsor that insists on using slight of hand and trickery to generate conversions and rebills. So, it's not personal. If you are a sleaze bag, then you will get your turn. |
I got pot seeds in my pocket.

Why not just email AFF if it really bothers you so much? Do you want everyone to post "You are so cool, thank you for single handedly saving the Internet" type replies. That would be the only reason for putting it on a public forum. "Getting the word out" doesn't really apply. There are two types of people who devote significant amounts of their time to reporting other sites for what they think is CP or other illegal or "unethical" activity. 1% of these people genuinely believe in what they are doing. The other 99% do it either because: -They are failures at their own business and jealous of success so try to dump shit on competitiors. - They secretly get off on CP and reporting whatever they want to call CP eases their guilt and gives them a good excuse to look for it all day. -Starved for attention. |
Looks like we hit a winner with the 1% who genuinely believe. The type that believes that many of the actions of the major sponsors on this board are borderline criminal. And since this is "supposed" to be an adult webmaster board, what better place to educate then the place where the webmasters all hang out.
So, yes, I am 100% devoted to continuing to expose ANY company that uses unethical tactics to generate sign-ups. And that includes the discrete cross-sells used by Adult.com, pornkings, and almost every other sponsor on this board. And then in turn, the trials that must be cancelled 24 hours before end of trial to avoid rebilling. Thing is, most of you don't have a clue how this industry works...and you just blindly accept that some how your sponsor pays you more then the sign-up value. And then there's companies like Standard Internet.12Clicks enters the board, and you all become a bunch of slobbering little sheep. He simple says, "Oh, but we don't do anything with spyware". And yet the evidence is right there in front of you. Grow some balls kids. And maybe you to will stand up for what you believe in, instead of making yourself into just another one of the GFY puppets. Fact is, I do very well at this business..and companies like AFF, ATK, and the other companies that I endorse on this board know exactly who I am, and also know that i am one of their top affiliates. So, am I going to leave anytime soon. Nope. So stay along for the ride...or get the fuck out of the way. |
Spywares are damaging for internet business.... 12clicks doesnt deserve anyone's solidarity...

Thank you, as always, for your diligence, 49.
I'll be reviewing this account when I get back to the office tomorrow, and make sure everything is kosher. And, for the record, AFF is a dating and personals site that happens to contain member-submitted erotic material. We DO promote to the mainstream, but require "over 18" verification before erotic materials may be viewed. We offer our affiliates an assortment of promotional tools intended to allow for the proper matching of message and traffic. While we would frown on the use of erotic material to promote our site in a context where either minors or persons not wishing to view such material might encounter it, the responsibility for making appropriate (and legal) choices with regard to what he or she publishes on their sites, or the methods of promotion they might use, rest with the webmaster/sender of traffic. I'll make reference to our Affiliate Agreement for general guidelines about what we allow and what we don't, but will be happy to receive information regarding methods of promotion found to be questionable by members of this community. Anyone want to see the crap that Ron's program is spawning on computers everywhere...add this little bit of script language to a blank page. <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript" src=http://www.popuptraffic.com/assign.php?l=test></script> Reload it a few times. As mentioned above, here's a selection of the ads being served: *spywarestormer - a "spyware" removal program which has been included in most security lists as a trojan *funwebproducts - another known trojan *free screensavers - wow, do people still fall for this one *game assistant - adds adware / search override to your browser *a ton of programs from casalemedia - you don't have to look far on any security board or McAfee or Norton, to find this company listed Call me silly, but if spyware/adware was outlawed, wouldn't that mean that 99% of your advertisers on popuptraffic.com would be gone? My question is, why do the rest of you ball-less jokers support this fool. Simple fact, he & Standard Internet are harming the industry. |
And for those of you who are unclear on exactly what the function is of the programs that Ron and Standard Internet advertise, here's an explanation right from funwebproducts, the distributor of the Free Screen Saver program:
"The Application, in the course of processing a given search query, sends a request to our servers. This request includes the keyword query, time of day, browser type, default language setting, IP address, an anonymous unique ID, and a code which identifies the distribution source of the Application used by you to conduct your search. If the search query is being generated as the result of a misspelled URL or search term entered in to the browser address bar, we also receive the misspelled URL address or search term. We use this information in order to properly process your search request. For example, this data provides us with: information on which language you prefer to use; aggregated click information for the purpose of ensuring that our search partners are appropriately compensating us; information that allows us to make accurate payments to our distributors; aggregated usage and retention information; and aggregated search query information for the purpose of further monetizing commercially oriented search keywords". In layman's terms....for all of you that spend great lengths of time on SEO, the surfers who download this "fun" little "freebee" will never see your page. Instead, only the "search partners" who are "compensating" funwebproducts will be displayed. And if your website is called reallivegirls.com. and the surfer misspells it, they won't go to a Site Not Found page, where they will realize their mistake and have a chance to retype it. Nope, instead your request is sent straight to one of their "compensating search partners" again. So, you've lost the client for good. Yep, Ron & SI are doing a great service to our industry and to the internet in general. And as always Ron, I look forward to your reply. Guaranteed to try and discredit the poster (me , in this case) but also guaranteed to not touch on the real issue. |

I'm sure the FTC explained this to you when they told you to stop calling them. too bad GFY doesn't tell you to stop calling. what a bitter fool you must be to have the time and interest to chase your betters around on chat boards like it means anything. :1orglaugh |

You are lucky that some on this board can be fooled by your techniques. But, I have faith in the others. So, you may have your supporters..but there's the other 90% that see your practices for what they are. So, I accomplish what I need to accomplish..which is exposing the crooks in this industry. So, keep on shoving your "ad supported software" on the unexpecting public. Sad thing is, I think you even believe your own spin. And my intent is clear...we both know that this board is populated mainly by young kids....and a handful of program owners that want to get the new kids in their programs. I am not looking for anyones' respect..just showing them the way this business really works, so that hopefully they choose to promote the few programs that will make them money, without cheating the consumer. You, on the other hand are on this board purely for the idolization of these same kids. In my books that smells a bit like a pedophile, or at the least, a very insecure person. Case in point, I would be the one that only shows up at GFY when I have a valid point to make. You, on the other hand are always minutes behind any post that mentions your name. It sounds like one of us does in fact have a self esteem issue. I for one couldn't care less who you are (or in this case, who you "think" you are). But I do care what you are doing to this industry...and for that I will continue to take pride in taking you to task. Good luck with your non-intrusive "ad-supported" software. And my apologies to the folks at funwebproducts who provided this explanation of their product, Boy, silly me thinking this was intrusive. And I apologize for all the folks at McAfee, Norton, & virtually every security board on the net that have classified this software as a significant risk. What were we thinking. Vivi La The Application, in the course of processing a given search query, sends a request to our servers. Ron, this is why I would love for you to take enough offence with me to end up in a legal battle. The wise would note that all I ever present is facts, with more facts to back up my facts. Your defence, on the other hand is always a lame attempt to discredit the other person with your "fantasized" picture of what you think your "attacker" might do, with absolutely no facts to back up your claims. And is it only me that see's how sad this really is... you are in your forties..and by your own admission "I'm here as often as I am because quite simply, I don't need to work". Don't you ever sit back and think, hey, I'm a big time success, and I spend my day on a bulletin board with 16 - 21 year olds. But, once again, the point is being lost. Step away from your computer, you big 'ol success you. There's a whole world out there for you to discover. And to the rest of you who post evry day, looking for spyware - adware removers - say hello to Ron. Chances are very good that he is the source of your problems. And that's a fact, backed up with fact - not just a fantasized scenario. |
