ok so I had to come clean about Santa

with my 10 year old. He has been hinting around for the last year about it and I finally told him. I feel like such an ass! What a big lie in a kids life, ya know? And he will ALWAYS remember "the day he found out"... at least I remember when I did. Anyone else here remember the day they found out there was no Santa??

Rankings 11-06-2004 10:06 PM

I told him it was a very grown up secret that now he gets to be part of for his little sister. Oh, if he blows it for her I will cry!!!

Lies!!! :waaaaahh

brizzad 11-06-2004 10:08 PM

I was about that age too...

My mom was reading me the book "Ralph S. Mouse" (either that or "The Mouse and the Motorcycle") and at one part in the book the older brother goes "but my younger brother doesnt know the truth and still believes in santa" and my mom just read over it without thinking then kind of caught herself, after that we had a little talk.

WiredGuy 11-06-2004 10:09 PM

Give him an extra special gift this year and he'll forget all about it. Worked for me, bribery is the best way to buy forgiveness :)

SEE! You remember. I hope I did it right. I remember my mom telling me at the bank! I was being a total pest asking her over and over again if there was a santa.... she took me aside and said, "no. THere is no Santa. Now please just stop asking!!" *sniffle sniffle*

I think I saw the UPS guy wearing it when he came to my office ... I gotta go check on that.

Babagirls 11-06-2004 10:18 PM

i found out in 3rd grade. One of my classmates was talkin about how theres no santa, and i was like "There is TO!!!" lmao

i went home, and my mom confirmed the truth. :(

uno 11-06-2004 10:19 PM

I can't remember ever believing in Santa and my parents begging me not to ruin it for my sister from at least the age of 5. Why do parents lie to their kids about things like santa?

bringer 11-06-2004 10:20 PM

i knew long before my parents told me
bastard kids at school whos parents were to cheap to get them presents told them early so everyone in my class heard from them

fatal attraction 11-06-2004 10:22 PM

Funny you should mention it! My 8 year old son asked me tonight...I avoided the question. hahaha

i remember getting in trouble for punching one of those kids like that.. i didnt want him to ruin it for other kids - i had to stand in front of the class with my booksack on and all of my books in it for an hour :(

media 11-06-2004 10:24 PM

I'm gonna just be straight up with my kids and tell them that there is no such thing as the tooth fairy, easter bunny, santa or anything like that..

I will tell him that the money and gifts come from me and mom.. And he should be thankful for every cent I give him right now because come his/her 18th b-day I am gonna present them with a invoice with a itemized list of expenses to make their life the fantastic life it has been so far.. Then I will ask how they intend on paying me back at the current vig rate..

fatal attraction 11-06-2004 10:28 PM

I still love......"Yes Virginia there is a Santa Clause!" a classic! :thumbsup

Arousal Design 11-06-2004 10:55 PM

When I was a kid, i never believed in santa claus, even as a child and thought the concept was stupid. MAINLY cause i lived n an APT that didnt have a chimney so I couldn't possibly see how he could get in the house. Not only that but I came up with all these other illogical reasons and just decided he was fake. =)
Maybe I was just ahead of my time...

The first part is just plain fucked up, and unnecessary dawg. Being a kid SHOULD BE living in a safe/fun loving/fantasy world.
Let kids be kids as long as they possibly can. No need for reality to set in so early.

:winkwink:

The second part is funny as hell and I'm going to do that too!

LMFAO

MrJackMeHoff 11-06-2004 10:57 PM

What kind of retard kid still believe in santa at 10 years old!?

bjjb 11-07-2004 05:47 AM

I think I was 10 and my sis 8. My mom and dad were in the living room putting together an electronic basketball game or something like that. Apparently he was having wayyyyyyyyy too much fun with it and making alot of noise. He woke me and my sister both up. BUSTED!! lol

Jakke PNG 11-07-2004 05:52 AM

I can't remember ever believing in santa.
I do remember santa visiting us, although I knew it was either a hired goon or my uncle. I remember one year santa called that his car broke down on the way to our place. lol.

bigdog 11-07-2004 08:18 AM

i am just surprised you have a 10 year old kid

I have a 10 and 5 year old. I try to tell them I am only 21, but they no longer believe me!

LOL it is fun to hear all these stories!!!

kane 11-07-2004 10:42 AM

my brother ( 1 year older than me ) came home one day in third grade and was upset because one of his classmates insisted that his dad was Santa because he saw him putting presents under the tree. It took my mom nearly an hour to convice my brother that Brian's dad was not Santa. So me and my brother stayed up and snuck out into the hall christmas eve, determined to see if she was right or not, and saw her putting the presents under the tree. The cat was out of the bag.

I really never understood where Santa came frome. My brother has 3 kids and his two oldest are at the age they will be told if not this year then next year and he said " yep, it's almost time for thier first heartbreak." Seems kind of stupid to me. Kids look to parents ( when really young ) as if they are gods only to be told that they lied to you for years and years. I don't see why we can't just tell our kids that there is no santa and that we give them gifts at christmas because we love them ( or something like that .) sometimes I think having stanta is more for the parents than the kids.
