Ok, i'm just a few hours away from quitting the cancer sticks. http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/smile.gif Ive tried quitting before but man its fucking tough. Anyone got any stories or inspiring words, cause im gonna fucking need it.

Good luck Gary... I've tried at least 20 times, but 19 years later I'm still smoking. Maybe get some rope and duct tape and have someone tie you to a chair for seven weeks?

Hey good luck man. My room-mate started at 15, and was a chain smoker (2-3 packs a day) for about 30 years (he's 46 now I think) up until about 8 months ago. I don't think he ever really tried to quit before until the last couple years.

He took Zyban for a while, and I'm not sure if anything else...

I don't know how to explain it, because he's the last person I or anyone else who knows him would ever think would quit, but he just basically quit cold turkey. Impressed the hell out of me.

You have to substitute you habit with something else.

1. Patches 24/7
2. Try smoking weed after meals/sex instead
3. Eat more pussy
4. Chew gum when pussy is not available
5. If all that doesn't work, forget it. Just smoke and accept the fact that one day, maybe next week, you'll have cancer and die.

Gary, I respect and fear you, thus I will give you Uncle Squishy's seceret stop smoking scheme. Ever time you want a smoke, inject yourself with black tar heroin. RJR Nabisco's products can't hold a candle to dirty Mexican heroin. Mmm...smack-o-rific!

Try to smoke less everyday, and when you realy want to smoke and can't resist - try smoking something different - like weed. It helps.

My father smoled about 1½-2 packs a day (... and we have 25 smokes in a pack up here !!), for more than 30 years ... one March Break, my mother and us 3 kids went up north to my aunt's house for the week ...

My father stayed home, because he had to work (he was the manager of an A&P grocery store, and could not get vacation at that time).

Well ... he took VERY ill, and was bed-ridden for 4 days ... My mother didn't hear from him, and tried calling home, but repeatedly got no answer! She was freaking out, assuming that he was shacked up with some other woman, and not at home. By the last day of our vacation, he called her and told her of his "bout with death" (yes, it was really THAT bad ... he still to this day thinks it was a minor heart attack, but is too fucking stubborn to go to a hospital or even a doctor when he is sick).

Anyways ... when he was feeling better, and was getting mobile again, he went to light up, and it dawned on him, that he had just gone for 4 days without one ... if he could do that, than he could go for 4 weeks, 4 months, 4 years, etc.

He just quit cold turkey !!! threw his remaining cigarettes in the toilet, and gave his lighter to our neighbor (he had a really fancy zippo that he'd had since he was a teenager).

I was 11 years old when this happened. I will be 32 this coming November. He said that many times he'd go to light up, and it would then dawn on him "Hey ... I don't smoke anymore.", and he admits to asking somebody for one at a party ... but he never ever did start back up.

I've been smoking since I was 14, (not overly heavy though- a pack might last me 3 days, and now I've cut back to ULTRA LIGHTS for over a year), the longest I've been able to quit for is about 2 weeks ... I tried countless times ... trying to psyche myself to give it another go soon, since I haven't tried in about 3 years ... going thru a messy divorce and quitting smoking did not mix !! http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/frown.gif

FOOTNOTE: My mother never stated smoking until she started dating my father. They drove around alot in my fathers BRAND NEW '64 GT MUSTANG ($2300.00 in '64), and he would have her "light his cigarettes while he was driving ... to this day, she still smokes a pack a day of BELVEDEREs (one of the harshest cigarettes we have - If I ran out, and bummed a couple from her, it was almost inspiration enough to quit http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/eek.gif ).

Going on 12 hours. I would throw myself in front of a bus except this town is so small there are no busses.

The longest I ever made it without being forced was four days. Of course I celebrated my success on day 4 by having a cigar during football.... a little reward you know.

Bad idea.

Gary, some serious advice...I've smoked since I was 14...I was only able to quit once, with Zyban...worked like a charm for 4 months, until I had to play a gig in a smoky bar and I caved...but it was a great 4 months.
