Are YOU a Computer DORK!?!? (yes).
Well the more and more I find myself at the machine, the more odd characteristics I noticed about my ways that change even the most obvious tasks of my days.
A few thoughts/feelings of a computer dork I've noticed recently... 1) Can you "FEEL" something on your Clipboard? If I copy and paste a line of code or an image, I can literraly "feel" the weight of it on my shoulders, like the mouse buttons are more defined or heavy.... like something important is floating around and I can sense it until I paste it in the needed place. 2) CNTL+F (find) used in the real world. Do you think or consider, then re-evaluate a situation in the real world and accidently think of using CNTL+F to find it? When I'm in the supermarket trying to find spices, or reading a book trying to find a main point, I constantly think to "hit CNTL+F" in my brain, then say, wtf i'm retarded and a DORK. Just a few signs of the computer dork, are you one? FF |
I think there's more to that clipboard feeling, because I feel it too.
I never think about ctrl+f in the real world, but I know I would be a whole lot better off with a "google chip" in my brain :Graucho |
ya i'm such a dork, and need a vacation.
FF |
I get that clipboard feeling too... Very weird indeed.
|
Me too for the clipboard feeling, I thought I was the only one!

Yea.....and how about when you say" LOL " out loud, or stare at some billboard trying to figure out what color code and font they used :Graucho
Ivy |
LOL
I get both :1orglaugh :( :( :( :( |

when i'm watching sports or any "text" heavy program (displaying players and scores)... I always say shit like "Goddamn why are they using BankGothicBT for those teams, shit is so overused"..... and my roommates just shake their head and laugh. FF |

whenever i see a billboard or sign, i always identify the font and hex value to all my buddies (who think i'm retarded), and also think of saying "lol" outloud (though, thank god, I never did). |

3. ALMOST or ACTUALLY saying "LOL" or "WTF" outloud during conversations. FF |
I am such a computer dork but that's what happens when you are 27 and been using computers for 20 years...
|
when you go out to eat and the person seating you tells you that they are your server for the night....
And you think to yourself is this a shared server (many patrons in the room) or a dedicated server (high end establishment, or not that many peeps in the room ) and how can I ping my server when needed ( empty drink, need rolls, etc) |
i no longer laugh in real life but merely yell LAUGH OUT LOUD. and i always say brb.
|
and instead of saying el oh el, i saw lawl... (the correct pronounciation)

but added nonetheless: 5. Comparing people in a room to people utilizing a server (traffic), and capacity compared to occupants. FF |
and did you ever notice when something requires a lot of scrolling, it "feels" heavier, as if you can feel the resistance, as opposed to something that doesn't have a lot of scrolling? :1orglaugh

meeting somebdoy from a different country and instantly thinking of the domain extension, ie .ru, co.uk, .au, etc.
|
I am a a computer dork.... BUT, my wife is hot, and I'm not bad looking so it's all good. :thumbsup

I think my biggest one is thinking there is an "Edit > Undo" option :1orglaugh

I'm an ultra GEEK and lovin every minute of it!
I live and breath technology. I love taking things apart and discovering how they work. I love my computers like family. They each have their own personality. Geeks are running the whole fucking planet now. Without us nerds this planet would shut down in a day. :thumbsup |
I don't get that feeling, but I like building pcs does that count?
|

I knew I was getting Geeked out when I could only sleep a few hours at a time because that was the maximum I could be away from my computer.

haha so true. there have been times that I have gone 20 mph over the speed limit so I could get to my computer faster LOL n3rd for life yo |

Yeah they don't really like it when you say "WTF" either :1orglaugh
|
that keyboard thing... wow... And I can feel when I have my temp files stuffed to the gills too before I clean em out.
But whats wierder is going out in the real world and standing in the mall and looking at all the gumbas and thinking, potential members. Not people. I really think that when I see a bunch of jar heads cutting up in public. In private they are my best customers. the server thing was neat.. I better not get hooked thinking in that way. Another sad side point is seeing girls in public and going 1000, 3000, 5000+ for how much they could make for me... Maybe its why I dont date. I see opportunity in every cute girl I meet. Umm but they don't - to bad. |
