It has a seperate people, ethnicity, culture, language, and location. So why the fuck isn't it a sovereign nation instead of a state to a foreign people?

Because in 1893, America illegally took over the kingdom of Hawaii.

I've never given it much thought, but I'm generally against Imperialism.

A gallon of milk is way too high there for them to ever be sovereign.

Hawaii would never last on its own. When it was its own country it was long before any airlines or fleets of ships. Hawaii would be part of Japan so fast. Oh wait, it pretty much already is.

Yes it is. So is bread. That's currently one of the biggest problems they are facing.

That's why you don't realize it. You think it's normal because it's all you've ever known. Meanwhile, your state is facing a crisis.

Hawaiians are lazy, I don't think you'd want to be their leader.

They are übermenschen and have superior work efficiency. Therefore they have more time they can spend on things that have meaning, like watching American media for its unprecedented cultural value.

Yes. Everyone on the mainland knows this. The fact that he's completely blind to what's going on right on his own block, is a perfect example of the brainwashing that goes on in many island nations.

Why is it a crisis though? Crisis sounds a bit extreme to me. Are people dieing because they can't afford milk and bread?

Nothing went over my head, it's just that you talk like you know everything about Hawaii, and you're sticking up for Hawaiian work ethic, which can mean that you either are Hawaiian yourself, or have never even been close to Hawaii and are completely clueless as to how things work here.

It was an obvious little sequel to my Füehrer joke. And that went right over your head as well. Thanks for playing.

Did you know that the GNP of Haiti has now surpassed Hawaii? It's attitudes like the ones above that have caused the problems they're facing. When you live on a giant volcano in the middle of the ocean, it's not exactly hard to convince people to go through life with blinders on. :2 cents:

Listen, you come in here with what appears to be a serious thread, then you post somewhat inside jokes, and when someone doesn't automatically go into humor mode you act like you just beat them at a test of wit. Idiot.

MrJackMeHoff 11-05-2004 03:14 AM

Heres the expensive high end buttery yummyness bread at my local Safeway:

That's right. Put your blinders back on and head on down to the Quickmart and get in line for your $7 gallon of milk. Hopefully there will still be bread left. Make sure to bring an extra $10 spot for that, too. Unbelievable.

That's the same price as here in Norway. Maybe we should become an American state too? I mean it, surrendering our independence so that our milk can cost 10% less sounds like an awesome deal. Please consult your president, and I will consult my king.

Holly, I live in Honolulu, prices are not that outrageous. The milk ad is 2 for $7, or $3.50 apiece. I lived in Hawaii Kai a couple years ago, which is one of the most upscale places on Oahu, where I would expect things to be more expensive, but they weren't. :2 cents:

its 2 for $7 stupid.. I guess I'd bring that much if I always bought 2 of everything.. Are you braindead or what?
