Interesting... I thought we were a more open society. I'm not gay and gays don't bother me. Shit, it's hard enough just trying to live and finding someone to love. I thought they (gays) were becomming more mainstream. With all the recent "gay culture" on tv and other media outlets. Ellen, Will & Grace, Queer Eye and other such programming made me feel were as a country was starting to accept others for who they are... I never thought I had a minority view point.
Time to wake up people! I don't think we're headed in the right direction.

Gays will never be legally allowed to marry in the US no matter who is in office. This nation is run by mainly traditionalist people. Whether they are Democrats or Republicans it doesn't matter. The people of the US are and always will (for a while at least) carry their traditionalist values which includes Male/Female weddings. Gay marriage will not be legal for at least 20 years or more if ever

and this election amid all of the anti-gay marriage bills on state ballots, South Dakta felt a need to take that one step further and voted that they would refuse to recognize any types of legal civil unions. the only reason gay marriage was on the ballot was because bush knew he wouldnt win without all those uptight religious conservatives. even if san francisco and massachusetts hadnt done what they did, it would still have been on the ballot because its how bush got people to vote for him when they otherwise wouldnt.
