so, whatcha in for? spamming aol, you?.. murder..oooowwk
due to aol and the amount of $ they can put into legal real fucking criminals are still walking the streets, selling the crack, robbing the old and puttin out the hoes. while our all ready backed up legal system jumps through hoops to put bulk mailers in jail?
now our tax money is going to pay to keep this guy in jail for 9 years due to the fact he sent spam? i cant think of the man hours spent, the amount of legal process used and the time it took for this case to go through. mean while in the real world we all live in you can buy some crack on just about every 5th corner. dont get me wrong, im not happy with the amount of spam i get in my mail box, but if i had the choice to a) have the sender put in jail or b) have a crystal meth dealer locked up, well im afraid id have to say b. what a fucking joke.... |
im gonna return to my thug roots and start dealing drugs again

you get LESS time selling crack herion or meth then sending email |
Well, I guess they made their point!
Anybody have links to the story? I'm interested in what exactly he was doing. I presume he wasn't following the weird ass legal spam rules? |

i think the legal system is tired of seeing 18 19 20 year olds making more cash then them without hurting anyone |

They aren't serving time in the same place. The reform is completely different.

Exactly. Fuck that guy.
I know there are a handful of spammers who hang out on this board, and if you are too dumb to either follow the rules, or do it from out of the country than you deserve what you get. I can't think of the exact number, but a staggering percentage of spam comes from inside the US. You guys who are doing it clearly make money on it, and you know it's illeagle... So good riddiance. The average crack dealer is some poor kid on the street who can't make a living any other way. You guys are *in theory* smart, tech savvy, and basically just breaking the law because you are lazy bastards. |

i agree to an extent
yes, fuck that guy but come the fuck on 9 years? have you ever watched oz? guys do 5 years on rape charges, i mean in every liquar store you go in you see the sign armed robbery will get you 7 years with no parole wtf? 7 years for sticking a gun in someones face and stealing from them, vs 9 years for sending email? are you not seeing that this is aol rearing its giant head pressing this issue? honestly, the entire world dont give a fuck in general about spam. there are bigger issues that need addressed that all this time + tax money could be spent on. |

I'll second that... some people are simply amazing with their critical thinking abilities and vast sense of reason |
I'm not arguing that the sentence wasn't fairly extreme.
I'm arguing that any guy who is making millions of dollars spamming through proxies, apparently using email lists stolen from AOL, and is doing it from North Carolina gets what he deserves. If I had 24 million bones, I'd at least do it from an offshore setup. I agree that there are bigger issues in the world than spam, but thats not really the point. There are bigger problems in the world than traffic violations too, but those laws still get enforced. TheJimmy/Anthony_A, which part of my post was stupid? That I think the idiot got what he deserved? "You are dumb" isn't really a good counter-argument. This guy got a large sentence to make a point. If he got busted hard for spamming and got 3 months, and made 24 million bucks; who would that deter? 9 years obviously has the spammers thinking a bit. |
