That Electoral Map Of The United States...
the more u look at that blue and red electoral map and that funny map of the United States of Canada it's kind of stunning - it's screaming that there are now two Americas - looking at the left coast it makes sense that California, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia become a country of their own - up in the Northeast, New York, New England, Ontario, Quebec, Michigan and Pennsylvania would be quite a powerhouse of a country - throw in Alberta for the oil.
in this century you will see the map of North America re-drawn. |
The US has always been polarized by geography at one point or another, the north and the south, East VS. West. Heartlands and Coasts. It's what we are all about.

I don't think so. Any serious attempt at secession would mean another civil war. Most of the military people are republicans and liberals are to sissified to fight another civil war.
|
Actually, if you look WITHIN Califronia, Oregon, and Washington and other states that voted for Kerry, there is a SPLIT as well.
Suburbs, rural and interior cities and towns trend Republican. Coastal, downtown, and urban areas trend Democrat. So... taking your suggestion, even if these states seceded they will still be WRACKED by internal conflict. Quote:

bump, I definitely hear what you're saying
|
there would be no civil war - this kind of thing would be negotiated over decades - the last national survey of Canadians had 26% in favor of some kind of union with the United States.
|
here's the map.
we're not divided, there are just large pockets of urban liberals who vote for their handout every electionhttp://images.usatoday.com/news/poli...countymap3.gif |
