Somethin' came up in another thread that got me thinking about something that I should be thinking about:

My son called me the other day to tell me how stoked he is that he got into this new class... Webmastering. Well, he asked for the URLs to sites I've done so he could get ideas and show off some of my sites to the teach. I gave him some of my non-porn customers sites and none of the porn URLs. But...

What the hell? What should I do here? If he's going to webmaster, should I keep trying to shield this from him? Or do I bring him in and show him the good stuff? I never thought about if or when this would ever happen. Seems like just yesterday he was squirting mustard on the dog. (oh wait, that WAS yesterday...)

Bring on the advice...

tell him....he may become greater than you...more successful becasue you can show him your down falls.....let him become the flint III of your empire........talk soon bro

Depending on the age of the child, you could be risking criminal charges for showing him your sites.

Just today, in the news, there was a story about a couple that got arrested for letting their teen son throw a party that included a stripper.

My advice - There should be plenty of time to pass on the adult site torch later in his life.

Maybe you should wait 'till he learns more about site design and how to run a business on the 'net. I started building sites when I was 17-18 and didn't make any money because I was such a newbie. My 14 year old knows I make smut sites and write for the sex industry. I never let her see the actual images and stuff that I work with, but it wouldn't matter cause she could care less about it and has told me so.

Nevertheless, we have both been making websites for six years. I tell her about marketing techniques that can help her get her work attention and allow her to use all the software I have for her projects.

She has a major interest in anime (not hentai) and makes websites dedicated to her favorite characters. She built her own chatroom and posts her short stories on anime bulletin boards.

Many is the time when I have been stuck and cannot find a code for something or have trouble with layout and she has shown me little tricks she's learned from all experience.

Of course, she's a girl and ogling hot, naked babes isn't really in her nature. I would have no clue how a boy child would handle the possibility of free access to all that XXX.

You know your child and you know what they can handle. Do give him time to see if webmastering is something he's truly dedicated to before you drop the bomb.

He was so fucking pissed when we got our phone bill and saw a $150 charge on there.

After kicking my ass, he questioned me about online porn. We decided to go into business together.

He started his dialer company (Jesus Dialer) which mother fucking BonerProne was supposed to take over and get up and running.

Unfortunately my father passed on, leaving me to run things. I run a TGP and do OK, but our dialer company is still just sitting there. Hopefuly when Bonerprone gets back from Europe, he will actually put some time into it. Or maybe he will just make me drive him around the city as usual.

Just as long as he aint Bi-Curious, because thats a different story!
