virtual vs dedicated servers, how much affected?
im settin up some mgp sites usein comus thumbs scripts (php scripting). Im plannin on gettin around 250k hits a day between all my sites. As of now i have a virtual server hosting account with webair (only gettin 10k a day there now, relitively fast) my question is am i wastein my time by not switchin over to a dedicated server now before starting to promotein my new mgp sites with the virtual host? I understand by usein a virtual server im at the mercy of everyone else on that server.
how fast of a server would be required to handle 250k mgp traffic a day, with minimal images except for the thumbs on the pages. (running comus thumbs) |
Your wasting your time. The new machine doesn't have to be fast since you'll be the only one on it. I'm just getting setup on cihost.com. Really happy with them and the pre-configured all the reqs for Comus for free. $99/mo for 3000GB transfer. Speed seems good. Cihost just started accepting porn. They are tier 1 and host for big companies like McDonalds.

BigWilly, I would suggest you keep using that virtual account until you grow to about 300$/month at which point ( or even a little before this ) -- its worth to get a dedicated server for stability and performance increases.
By that point you should be closer to 100K and ready to justify a dedicated server. You can give me an ICQ: 36837470 and I'd be glad to help you choose one of our plans www.RealityCheckNetwork.com -- or even help you with someone else's offer. |
won't you also have to pay Comus for a move.....plus your trade script will have to be moved. it'll be double the work if you wait.

Hi liquidmoe, Can I hit up up on ICQ, I have a question...

Bigwilly,
contact me ... we offer extreme discounts to virtual clients upgrading to dedicated packages....Additionally, we offer a wide variety of dedicated solutions to suit any budget :) |

I would go with an affordable dedicated package. I can set you up with a dedicated server that rivals comparable virtual hosting prices. As your sites grow, so will your bandwidth allowance. |
