Christian Coalition says "Christian Evangelicals Made the Major Difference in the 2004 Presidential Election"

Washington D.C. -- Christian Coalition of America congratulates President George W. Bush on his reelection and looks forward to once again working with the congressional leadership to pass legislation important to American families. Exit polls showed that moral values played at least as large a role as the war on terrorism in the president's reelection.

The President of Christian Coalition of America, Roberta Combs said, "We are pleased that both the executive branch and the legislative branch will be controlled by pro-family conservatives and that every one of the 11 state constitutional amendments to ban homosexual "marriages" passed overwhelmingly. There is no doubt that because 4 radical left-wing Massachusetts judges ruled that homosexual "marriages" are constitutional last year, there was a conservative backlash which played a major role in the election outcome yesterday. Christian evangelicals made the major difference once again this year."

The bans on homosexual "marriage" in each of the 11 states which had constitutional amendments on the ballot passed overwhelmingly. The states are: Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Ohio, Oregon, and Utah. There are now 17 states with constitutional amendments which ban same-sex "marriages." The states already having constitutional amendments banning such same-sex "marriages" are Alaska, Hawaii, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska and Nevada. It is expected that a large majority of states will have similar constitutional amendments within the next two election cycles. The victory margins for these constitutional amendments have averaged close to 70% which reflects the number of Americans opposing homosexual "marriages." Christian Coalition looks forward to working with Congress to continue to grow the votes in Congress to pass a federal constitutional amendment to ban homosexual "marriage" and to pass further restrictions on abortion.

The Christian Coalition will also begin work for passage of the "Houses of Worship Free Speech Restoration Act" to ensure the church has free speech. Radical liberals have used every trick in the book to try and silence the church. The sleeping giant has been awakened and will refuse to be intimidated by secular fundamentalists.

Christian Coalition distributed millions of non-partisan voter guides in English and in Spanish, in churches and in neighborhoods all across America so voters would have an informed choice on where candidates stood on the issues.

The Christian Coalition of America is America's largest Christian grassroots organization with more than 2 million supporters. The organization's website may be referenced at: http://www.cc.org.
