what do you guys think about those advertising graphics...
 

that hover over the center of a page in a div layer encouraging you to signup, which usually lasts for like 10 seconds, or you can close it out...

this is usually seen on messageboards to get guests to signup.

yes it is annoying, but i wonder if it increases the # of signups.
