"Porn has been around forever, so it is safe to assume it will go on..."
This, in my opinion, is an ill-founded assumption. Porn, no different than brothels, will continue into the future. I do not disagree.
But that is not the issue at hand and does not entirely represent the nature of what we are doing.
Brothels are illegal in the US, with the exception of Nevada. Sure, they exist in every major city, but only those that choose the world of underground operations are beneficiaries. You also can't stop people from taking drugs. That has been proven over time, dating back to prohibition and even further back to tribal-opiates and such; but you can't go over to the local cocaine dealers house and give him your debit card. He requires cash along with a picture of your kids, if you want enough to re-sale for him.
Porn has been around a long time if you connect it to a variety of historical sex models, but CC processing for it has not been around forever, neither have specific watchdog groups and goverment agencies. The Romans had sacred versions of porn, even existing in oil lamp renditions, but Pompeii did not take American Express, Mastercard or even your Visa Check card, believe it or not.
Porn will go on forever, but your ability to legitimately profit from it may well not. Adapting business models will live on, but you need to ask yourself exactly what is required of you for that adaptation.
I am just floored when I see people say that it does not matter who is running our country, from house seats to the President, because Porn will just live on.
I thought that being an American meant respecting other's views and other nations. I have seen more "Screw Canadian" threads this past week than ever. Maybe Americans should be forced to have a minimum amount of stamps on a passport before they can vote? A better understanding of the world may very well open up a lot of Americans to what is really at stake.
I hope that sometime in the near future, we get back to what made this place so great. I also hope the tax cut helps, you may need that extra money in cash, along with a picture of your kids to make your content purchases.
