"Porn has been around forever, so it is safe to assume it will go on..."

This, in my opinion, is an ill-founded assumption. Porn, no different than brothels, will continue into the future. I do not disagree.

But that is not the issue at hand and does not entirely represent the nature of what we are doing.

Brothels are illegal in the US, with the exception of Nevada. Sure, they exist in every major city, but only those that choose the world of underground operations are beneficiaries. You also can't stop people from taking drugs. That has been proven over time, dating back to prohibition and even further back to tribal-opiates and such; but you can't go over to the local cocaine dealers house and give him your debit card. He requires cash along with a picture of your kids, if you buy enough.

Porn has been around a long time if you connect it to a variety of historical sex models, but CC processing for it has not been around forever, neither have specific watchdog groups and goverment agencies.

Porn will go on forever, but your ability to legitimately profit from it may well not.

I am just floored when I see people say that it does not matter who is running our country, from house seats to the President, because Porn will just live on.

I thought that being an American meant respecting other's views and other nations. I have seen more "Screw Canadian" threads this past week than ever. Maybe Americans should be forced to have a minimum amount of stamps on a passport before they can vote?

I hope that sometime in the near future, we get back to what made this place so great. I also hope the tax cut helps, you may need that extra money in cash, along with a picture of your kids to make your content purchase.

Larry Flint is hardly around forever ... he's just 'barely around'. He was prosecuted all throughout the 80's and had an assassination attempt. One more inch and that bullet would have made him 'not around at all'.

It wasn't until Clinton that we got a break and the online industry started to grow.

Of course, with the Internet just taking off at the same time Clinton got into office there's no way of knowing how things would have went had another President been in office through the 90's. We can hardly credit Clinton with the success of online porn. But we do know for certain that Clinton put a stop to all the obscenity prosecutions. So it couldn't have been any better for us really.

So yeah .. I'm worried about what Bush might do .. since Clinton's administration was the only one since porn became mainstream in the 70's and 80's to not try and put a stop to it.
