All it's doing is downloading certain Usenet groups and providing a service to members to download those files.. I believe theres a loophole there somewhere, where its the users responsibility to download legal stuff only or something...

GUBA takes measures to filter out illegal material. We also block copyrighted images and videos when notified about them.

Usenet has a huge database of images and videos. GUBA provides a web interface for sorting, previewing and downloading that content.

yay! i want to get riiiiiiiiiiich

Shap 11-03-2004 01:30 PM

So unless I patrol guba for stolen content then it can and will show up there without any consequence to you?

dustface 11-03-2004 01:37 PM

If your content winds up on Usenet it might show up on GUBA. The good news is that GUBA will take steps keep it off of our site. Getting it blocked from Usenet is far more difficult.

We have software that identifies images and videos in order to block future postings even if those future postings are modified. Please notify us if you find stolen content on GUBA. We take your ownership rights seriously.

Sounds great, but if you block copywrited material how do you know or filter whats legal or illegal material?
Do you have access to the custodial files of all your images you distribute?

the_wizz 11-03-2004 01:49 PM

I'v been promoting this on houseofpussy.net for a while.

Is there a way for me to get the free membership??

Or should I create a new account??

TaDoW 11-03-2004 02:00 PM

usenet is actually a great way to pull in joins if you brand your url on the image ;-)

shhhh... don't tell anyone

That's my free million dollar bit of information for the day

the_wizz 11-03-2004 02:01 PM

this is a great program guys. I've been contacted by several surfers who love having the usenet groups at their fingertips!!!

I suggest you all look at it, it works. It converts and all you have to do is add a search box to your site!

scoreman 11-03-2004 02:01 PM

If you took ownership rights seriously you would be out of business. The ONLY reason people are willing to pay for usenet is to download copyrighted material. If you eliminated all of the content that is copyrighted from your servers you would have a few gigabytes of text that no one would pay you $10 to download.

Face facts, dont spin this, your model is built on monetizing other people's content.

Basic_man 11-03-2004 02:01 PM

Cool shit ! :thumbsup

dustface 11-03-2004 02:17 PM

The Usenet content is out there whether or not we present it to users. People post their own images all the time and some make money by driving traffic to their own sites.

Do you get this worked up about Microsoft Outlook, Google Images or other newsreaders that allow users to view content on Usenent? GUBA merely helps users sort through it. We do not present it as our own or offer it for sale. GUBA provides a search service, for a fee. If you have a specific complaint about your content being stolen, please let me know so I can make sure it is not displayed on GUBA.

SpikeHeel 11-03-2004 02:17 PM

Ok, now that election is over although no results yet, let's get rich here.

Even their tour pages show questionable content, avi's of candid kiddy pools.......very bad.:(

Sad sign of this business and this board that if a newbie posts stolen content, people here would be all over him. You get to pin your thread...

agreed

Shap 11-03-2004 03:24 PM

I agree Jayeff. It's sad that Lensman allowed this to be pinned. Guba steals from each and every one of our pockets. Promoting them is allowing them to get away with it.
