the election in the US was about christianity vs non christianity.

If you were a christian your church told you that god likes bush because god is against gays and against abortion. Porn is a sin too ! There are simply more christians in america than non christians.

Slick 11-03-2004 07:29 AM

Excellent points there. It's pretty bad when the bun runners can put who they want in office rather than making the right choice as to who can actually run the country.

Gee, I think if you go into the inner city and tell the millions of black voters for kerry that they aren't christian, they might beat you right out of those funky shirts you wear. :winkwink:

Basic_man 11-03-2004 07:43 AM

It would probably have played a big part in this election !

You seem to enjoy willfully ignoring the points people are making.

I hope I live to see the day when mankind evolves, and can finally live without mythology.

MrIzzz 11-03-2004 07:47 AM

true on some many levels

BUSH hates muslims, abortion, gay marriage, porn, etc...

his agenda is blatantly obvious, and so the shepard steers the uneducated flock

xclusive 11-03-2004 07:47 AM

I hate people who use god like that...

valid points are always welcome. come up with one and I'll prove it.:winkwink:

CamChicks 11-03-2004 07:52 AM

Lets hope the christians get the holy war they voted for, and the rest of us avoid being targeted.

reynold 11-03-2004 08:29 AM

religion and politics. oh -oh I wouldn't go there if I were you.

rett11 11-03-2004 08:53 AM

Lars is right. This election was won on religion and 'values'...too bad those values seem to be intolerance and hatred. Lots of those blacks, and tons of Latinos, didn't vote for Kerry b/c of abortion, gay marriage and stem-cell research, when in the past those votes would have been automatic. America is extremely conservative right now, which is very scary. Get ready for some good old fashioned witch-hunts.

Ian 11-03-2004 09:03 AM

This was in a Canadian newspaper this morning:

"Bush was favoured among white men, voters with family incomes over $100,000 US and evangelical Christians who view him as a messenger from God in a titanic fight to quell terrorism and spread liberty around the world, while Kerry was the overwhelming favourite of black voters, Hispanics, union households and was supported by many younger voters."

:2 cents:

tigerw 11-03-2004 09:06 AM

exactly... with bush in office we have to deal with a fundamentalish christian superpower instead of a rational goverment.

although as a sweede i feel releaved that bush is gonna win... atleast now there will be no pressure on us to help out in their righteous struggle to increase their power by killing of all muslims with oil that arent their bitches

I live how idiots make evangelical christians out to be a large part of the population and radical.

its sad that liberals aren't bright enough to see thru this bullshit.

I guess it was hard to disparage successful people so they made boogie men out of people of faith.
so uneducated yet so silly.

exactly did you know african americans are 70% christian ? This pulled lots of votes away from kerry, the church told them so !

Anyway as a rich person I like bushes tax policy. but what good is more money when you dont ahve the right to spend it how you want or your ideals are punished. I guess if kerry woulda won there would be 50% of the people having their ideals punished.

CIVIL WAR is coming :)

11 states had propositions to ban gay marriage this pulled out al kinds of christians not just evangelicals fanatics.. This was an awesome tactic by the gop to get out the vote !

cant we all just get along why do we have to push our ideals onto each other.. thought america was where you could do what ya want withought being persecuted..

Halcyon 11-03-2004 10:08 AM

People voted for Bush because he was a good Christian. According to who!?
Have these people read the words of Christ? I?m pretty sure that being humble and meek is mentioned more times in the Bible than fighting for justice is. I?m pretty sure loving thy neighbor is emphasized more than homosexuals are condemned. I?m pretty sure that turning the other cheek is the lesson of Christ, not an eye for an eye.

StuartD 11-03-2004 10:10 AM

Apparently having an abortion is a bigger sin than going around the world and killing hundreds of innocents.

Haven't you figured it out yet 12Clicks......they spin and spin so much that they become so dizzy, their logic is...well there is no logic behind these statements.

Jer 11-03-2004 10:17 AM

Someone should have told Bush supporters that USA is a country, not a church or extension of it

Oh, and that God is Brazilian

Bullshit, its about liberals and democrats not voting. Like I always say "Sheep dont vote". And they didnt.
There are far more non-christains / non practicing christians then christains that voted for Bush.
Kerry failed to get votes that Clinton got when he defeated Bush Senior. Gays, blacks and younger voters.

there's a very very small minority who want to see the definition of marriage changed (as was shown in the polls)

this has nothing to do with persecution and everything to do with common sense.

Sly 11-03-2004 01:32 PM

I have a difficult time believing that 50% of the country is Christian and attends Church. Anybody have some stats? Stats of people that actually attend Church.

Hey Lars!! You seriously think all that crap has anyone whatsover to do with Christianity?? :winkwink:

This kinda unique brand of Christianity is a perversion and *need* in people for a security blanket to help make up deficencies in their sad lives.

That is turn is used by other religous freaks like Faldwell and others.

That kinda religon is matched only by Islamic extremists and other perverts.

They are an embarassment as supposed members of the human race - some call them scum.

jmk 11-03-2004 01:47 PM

Not quite right
God loves everybody .. so he has no preference
you are talking about views from the CHURCH ... or rules they set.

SpikeHeel 11-03-2004 03:02 PM

This is one of the real reason why this people are so decided. I really hope and pray for World peace and Unity!

don't you mean the flock that agrees with him? I like porn. Lots of people dont. A lot of people on this board go on and on about rights and how our rights are being stamped on. The fact is that the majority of the people out there agree with Bush. If you're a liberal, you will likely claim that all of these people are stupid. In reality they just believe something different from you.

I'm not fond of people who crash planes into my country. I'm not wild about the "abortion as birth control" trend. If Gay people want to get married, let em. They have just as much right to be miserable as straight people. In the long run, though, I agree more with Bush than Kerry. What makes me sick is the number of libs who cry foul every time they dont win.

With the largest percentage of voter concern by poll going to 'moral values' - it's an understandable concern, no? When it's placed above even the economy and terrorism?

Sean 11-03-2004 05:26 PM

lars is right for the most. i talked to my father who lives in alabama, who is from california and is not a redneck, told me a vote for kerry, is a vote against god. almost my entire family felt that way

The primary differences between the New Testament and the Old are that Christ introduced the concept of personal salvation and he told his followers to be tolerant of others, leaving judgement to God. Hot-button politics may involve some issues that appeal to so-called Christians, but intolerance has nothing to do with true Christianity.

Be that as it may, emotive appeals work and they have always been used to some extent. However, in the past in the US (except for the McCarthy era) their use has been restricted to the message and not the issue.

Now the Republicans have used emotive issues themselves to win an election: the exact same technique as put Hitler in power and is behind the rise of Islamic fundamentalism. It's a Pandora's box that will be very hard to close because it worked so effectively and as you point out, porn is an obvious next target.

The only consolation is that you must not win too easily, because then the issue goes away and ceases to work for you. Hopefully this means we will only be under a gradual assault.
