I think you should have to take a test before being able to vote because it's obvious by these elections that idiots voted for an idiot...

works in australia, everyone HAS to vote or you cop a fine.

You can even vote more than once, and the fine is still the same.

0 vote = $60 fine
1 vote = no fine
2 vote = $60 fine
3 vote - $60 fine

1000 vote = $60 fine

It is not only a responsibility as citizen, but I see it as a priviledge as well. So let us not waste our oppurtunity to vote.
