Young people are stupid and lost this election.

They love the free music but will not lift their fat asses and go out to vote.
If Bush won, you can say it is young people's fault.
Had they voted, we all would be cheering now.
They are just like the keyboard warriors here, talk a lot of shit but don't do nothing.

stocktrader23 11-03-2004 05:43 AM

They were only hoping for 2 million more young votes with millions spent in getting them out. From my count they had almost 1.4 million more than last election.

Gynecologist 11-03-2004 05:43 AM

Millions more registered but the same exact % showed up as last election.

Webby 11-03-2004 05:45 AM

"Young people" do not make up over 50% of the popular vote.

That says LOADS about 50% of the US population who clearly have nada sense to start with.

The fact they even voted Bush into power in the first instance was damning enough - this current election just proves some reality.

strats 11-03-2004 05:45 AM

drct fiesta, go invest in a brain, o wait they haven't invent that yet.

Alex From San Diego 11-03-2004 05:45 AM

The voter turnout was the highest ever.
The thing is that most folks didn't realize just how coordinated the religious vote rallying was the past couple months. The chance to ban gay marriage, the possibly overturn Roe v. Wade and "not having the Bible banned" sent an enormous number of people to the polls

benc 11-03-2004 06:35 AM

All the Eminem, Pdiddy, MTV bs just motivated suburban America more to get out to vote.

It should NOT be, I think people should have to be educated on how to vote before they are aloud to, sorry to say but YES another high school class for 95% of this boards population should be educated on how to vote.

ie.
What to look for, who stands for what, why the budget needs balanced and how to tell what is more important in their vote.

Just my :2 cents:

My wife refuses to vote, simply because she does not follow the cantidates, she does not care what is going on in politics. Should she vote what I tell her to? naaa I respect her for not just voting what people tell her too. Or just to vote to say it is her right and I VOTED.

It is NOT you right to vote, it is your RIGHT to make an EDUCATED vote or it is for not.

the problem with a class like that is that then you end up with drones of the teacher. People who vote that way/think that way because they were taught to.

Thats a bad idea.

I liked it better when no one voted.....

No, you misunderstood what I said, a class to teach people how the system works and whe it is important, what the should look for that is IMPORTANT to them. IE. if you make 200,000 a year watch for tax's, if you are having a kid, who is going to raise the child care credit ect...

Not to clone them, not to make them democrates or republicans, now I can see how that may happen but it is not my IDEAL situation.

Lykos 11-03-2004 08:10 AM
