UK credit cards 'outnumber people'
 

The UK is the only country in Europe where there are more issued credit cards than people, according to a survey published today.

The number of credit cards in the UK is double the European average. The total number of plastic cards is equivalent to two cards for every man, woman and child, the figures from market analyst Datamonitor showed.

What in heaven's name are they gonna need that many credit cards for?

why? you don't nessarcarily have to borrow on them to use one, if you pay every month it doesn't cost anything, in fact a lot of credit cards give you 1% cash back.

if you buy stuff in the UK on a credit card it is automatically insured and you have a lot of consumer protection when using one. it also saves carry lots of cash and are convenient.

most credit card companies offer 0% on balance transfers and good introductory rates, and hence people just signing up for different cards and moving the balance around for 0% borrowing.
