I had a couple. I couldn't seem to keep them alive long. One lasted a couple of weeks. One made it almost 3 months. I gave up after that. Do some serious reading. I read for weeks before I bought one and it didn't seem to help me.

What's the difference between a big iguana and a chameleon ?

reynold 11-02-2004 12:52 PM

Chameleons are so cool. a friend of mine has one and it changes into purple.

chameleons are hard. sincethey are exotics they tend to get diseases real fast. my buddy had 4 and all of them died with 3 months from mouth infections cause by cricket pieces lodged in their jaw.

they have to be sprayed at least twice a day, and kept very clean. fed three times a day.

It's kind of amazing that someone was going to get one of these for a pet and didn't know what was involved in keeping one.

You can't feed chameleons wild crickets and insects because they're too hard to digest. Pet stores sell crickets with softer outer shells. Give them some mealworms too. Put sugar in their water spray bottle, they'll enjoy it. Also, if you have a tall plant in your house, put your lizards in it. They'll stay in the plant all day. Make sure you spray the leaves too. I've had chameleons live up to 8 years when I was a kid. Chameleons caught in the wild last much longer than sickly store bought ones.

My friend has a pet chameleon and it's so weird. It changes it colors every now and then.

yeah i didn't feed them wild anything. it would be retarded to feed them wild bugs, you don't know where they've been. fed them alot of mealworms too.
