What do you think about buying the sponsorship spots on Search Engines such as Google and Yahoo. Is it worth spending the $$

Are any of you doing this for your sites? and if so how is it working out ?

I spend upwards of 5 figures on PPC advertising each month and its rather effective. There is a learning curve if you've never done this before though. Easiest way to evaluate it, is look at your keywords of choice and (try) to figure out what their PPC cost is and if you can afford similiar rates.

Yeah, I've seen a lot of people abusing other people's TM's and site names like this. It certainly is profitable, but like I said, there is a learning curve to it.

Get your credit card out and start submitting. Seriously, every site is different and you just gotta feel out the system to get the hang of it. I went through a couple hundred dollars before I hit a positive ROI but it definitely is possible just by looking at the sheer number of advertisers.
