Female Police Officers..... Anyone know of any?

I was just curious and checked out local police recruiting.

Anyone know of any female police officers?

And as citizens would you feel less "safe" with a female officer?

Winnipeg Police Dept are recruiting new students for their academy. And the oportuinty sounds amazing and rewarding (not to mention physically/mentally/emotionally challenging.)

It sounds like something i would be interested in as a career.

You think i could pull it off Rick? :ak47:

Odie 11-01-2004 09:23 AM

both of my sisters are cops now...they are lethal weapons..I would rather have them guard me..at least I know what they're capable of..:winkwink:

brizzad 11-01-2004 09:26 AM

my aunt has been a cop for 15 years, and her new partner in training is also a female(a hot one)

Are they out of TO Odie?

How big are your sisters? How did they find being in a male dominated career?

I'd love to hear your :2 cents:

my sisters both got recruited out of college. They graduated top of their class both in their physicals and mentally. They completed the obstacle course in less time then any of the other students both men and women.

My sisters are the same size as me..just a lil bigger..They study martial arts to help in their jobs.

They're RCMP in Niagara.

My sister's love being in their field. They're 21 and 24.

I just get scared hearing about the busts that they do..

TurboAngel 11-01-2004 09:33 AM

My aunt is a cop, she's been one for 25 years now. My uncle was a cop for 30 years he just retired this year, he had to wait and retire with his dog.

You can tell my uncle was a cop he had the "cop" mentality but my aunt you would never know she's a cop or a black belt. She's the only woman who rides a Harly-Davidson.

Well i dont really feel i have an "adult backround". And even if they did i dont see how that would influence any descion. I have never done or participated in anything illegal. I dont even have a record of any sort.

I mean does a sales job constitute as illegal? ;)

Haha .... I think i would have more problems with the physicallity of the job. considering my height etc.... I am not sure if i would be intimidating enough. :(

I believe from what I have heard, but don't quote me that to me a "street cop" you must be of a certain height and weight. However, there are other ways to be a police officer. When I finished my masters this summer in Biotechnology, basically I came to realize that I don't want to work in a regular lab, I want to work for the police. I will be like a CSI agent type. There are lots of possibilites for females in the police department, don't limit yourself.:thumbsup

ok here goes.

for me and i imagine almost everyone it makes no difference..the uniform gets my respect. Howevr i fear that if someone is truly a bad person or does not wish to surrender..unless the female gets her gun drawn she could be easily over powered.

now before any one comes in here and says 140 lb female trained in martial arts can take down a 280 violent criminal..please...ive never seen anyone fair well in a street fight if they have a martial arts background..it is a different ball game

so for the most part yeah...they should be fine

but for some jobs in the force..they should keep them for the big guys..maybe even exclude the smaller cops...only guys 6^4 and 250 lbs and up should handle some situations

just my two cents as i have watched two male cops get beat to a pulp by a guy smaller then them..simply because he was prepared to react with violence level much above what they expected.

Fair answer Brad... and thanks for your honesty.

I do agree with alot of what u said here. The one thing holding me back is my "lack" of physicall intimidation. I am 5ft and 109 lbs at best. But that doesn't mean i wont look into this further. As alot of ppl pointed out in this thread.... it can be done!!!!!

Whitney

if they paired you with a behomoth type cop you could be a good team..you the nice lady police officer who is calm and in control..but if they fuck with you..then they are in trouble..i have seen that alot..female cop with a huge partner.

i personally feel female cops are better ive been treated better by them vs the young steroid champs.

i also agree youd look hot in a uniform

Rochard 11-01-2004 07:38 PM

I don't know of any female police officers, but I know lots of woman who own their own handcuffs.

I once worked with a female police officer in a country town She was 5' 2" and no one - not even the pub brawlers - who dared give her any cheek.

I saw her once stop a pub brawl simply by drawing her baton and cracking it on the bar.

Even her brothers were scared of her.

Some women can definitely be intimidating, no matter the size. I think Whitney would have to work on her "game face", she looks too sweet and innocent to be too intimidating. Just my opinion. :winkwink:

Of course, being a cop doesn't necessarily mean foot work.
