CHINA has almost TWO MILLION Internet Cafes
But they only closed ONE PERCENT in their Crackdown.
China continues internet crackdown Last Updated Sun, 31 Oct 2004 20:13:00 EST BEIJING - China shut 1,600 internet cafes between February and August, the government said. Fines worth more than $12 million US were imposed on those establishments that allowed children to play violent or adult-only games and for other violations. The culture ministry said of 1.8 million internet bars inspected, 18,000 were ordered to stop operating. The ministry said porn, gambling and violence have adversely affected the healthy development of the internet in China. The crackdown comes amid a nationwide push to limit violence and pornography on the internet that has seen the government shut down hundreds of websites deemed unsavoury. The Internet Society of China recently released a blacklist of 112 internet protocol (IP) addresses of spam servers. The group urged all those on the list to deal with their junk mail before Oct. 29. |
they have no credit cards, so how do they get porn? TGP porn is not real porn... well, I retract! I've seen some serious hardcore on some TGPs out there.

112 internet protocol (IP) addresses
out of many millions hehe |
WOAAAAAAAH 2 millions ? That's soooo fucking huge ... I wonder how many the US have

Even if you say 20 each in the 500 biggest cities in US that is still only 10,000 total. Since they have about seven times the population we do in USA, we should have about 300,000 here all other things being equal. I guess hardly anyone has Internet access at home there so they need the Cafes. I have pretty much given up on figuring out how to sell porn to China for now until the government decides it can make money out of it and relaxes a bit and a few million more Chinese dudes get credit cards. I am gonna concentrate on figuring out how to sell them mainstream stuff they can bill with their cell phones etc. |
waaahooo 2milion with 10+ pc's each... you do the math
|
But since people in china have less space and stuff ... more probably go in internet cafe instead of owning one
|
As i know its illegal to host/ surf a porn site in china. It might cause some court time!
|
what exactly are they supposed to be using the internet for if not porn, gambling & violence? :1orglaugh

That much? I wonder wht in heavens' name they are using it for? aside from porn.
|
Can chinees pay by credit card or check or anything else on a mainstream site??
|
There are more internet users in China, 2 more years and there will be more internet users in China than Canada and USA combined.
Right now China has more TVs than all of North and South America combined :1orglaugh That will happen with cell phones soon. |
and they banned porn? that sucks!

The small numbers posted in this crackdown doesn't seem like they're taking this all that seriously over there. Looks like a show to me. In the case of porn, it's economic. Not much fun jerking off in the middle of an internet cafe :winkwink: Wireless access + Next Gen PDAs = Chinese Porn $$$ |
thats kind of crazy thats a lot of internet cafes they only have 2 or 3 in my area and they opened pretty recently

That would make it the world?s largest market, surpassing the United States? 120.1 million. About one in 10 Chinese has a cell phone, compared to four in 10 Americans.
