Web-based StatsRemote

Anyone know of such a service?

candyflip 10-31-2004 10:00 AM

There's My Stats Area, but I can't vouch for it...never used it.

If you want to use a web-based service I would recommend revstats.

it gives a comfy feeling to be able to check all stats anywhere in the world. If you would add this service to the current statsremote, I'd buy.

Well, if we offered such a service all your usernames, passwords and stats would be stored on our server and that's not something we want.

You can set StatsRemote to send you your stats to your email or cell phone though (every hour, 4 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours, ...).

Or you could use a service like gotomypc.com to connect to your computer at home where StatsRemote is running.

Is there any Mac version for stats remote or something like it ?

Hey JB my porndollar stats aren't correct, it does show uniques/sales but no dollar amounts for it. Are you aware of the problem already? If so I guess it will be fixed with the next update?

Still a kickass program... couldn't live without it :glugglug

We're not aware of any problem with Porn Dollar. Which of their programs do you use?

Also, did you just start promoting Porn Dollar? If so, the payout should show up after midnight and after that it should show up for each new sale immediately. The problem is that they don't list today's payout in the table on the right, so StatsRemote doesn't know how much you get per sale until it shows up after midnight in the stats table on the left.

Hmmm... the script would be on our server and check all the stats from our server, so it would need all usernames and passwords. Also, all historical stats would be stored on our server.

That's why StatsRemote is a desktop application. Everything is stored encrypted on your hard drive only and we don't have access to your logins and stats at any time. We don't even know which programs' stats you check with StatsRemote.

OK, that's what I thought. From tomorrow on you should see your payout in real time as well :)

I understand your concerns (and they are mine too), but for the latter option I'd have to keep the program running as well. Maybe there's a server application, or is there a way to have statsremote running at a server?

Only on Windows servers. StatsRemote is a Java application and needs the Microsoft JVM.

a version people could setup on their own servers would probably sell pretty well.....

It might sell well but most people have a Windows machine as well and we can't complain about our members base :)

We would need to rewrite the entire software and also need to maintain two different versions then, so it won't happen.

I always thought the point of Java was that is was multi-platform. Is this not the case?

Well, you have to decide whether you use the Sun JVM or Microsoft JVM. Sun Java can be multi-platform but many things are not possible with it. That's why we use the Microsoft JVM.

We rather provide a software with good functionality than a software with limited functionality. As most people have a Windows machine it's the better way IMHO.

fair enough, although since it's java you might want to atleast consider using java bindings from a more web enabled language (asp, php, etc..) even on a windows box using the MJVM. Although i'm sure you guys are happy with your existing customer base :Graucho and the maintaining multiple copies thing would suck balls

Cool feature! :thumbsup

there was/is a web based service like StatsRemote - came out at about the same time - think it flopped for the very reason J B mentioned - webmasters don't want their business info in somebody else's hands on somebody else's server. I can't remember the name of the web based one - Stats something or other.

There are two web-based services... RevStats and MyStatsArea. RevStats is an original product run by honest people (AFAIK), MyStatsArea is run by a known thief and liar. Here's the proof again in case sombody missed it:
http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...27#post4772927
http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...hreadid=235039

The problem I see with web-based services in general is that every server can be hacked.

Also, I would never use a web-based service myself as it's nobody else's business how much we make. Actually I wouldn't mind so much if somebody saw our stats, but once you have access to an account you can see more, e.g. referring URL's to check out how people get good conversions, etc...

In the case of StatsRemote everything is stored encrypted on your hard drive, so unless somebody has access to your PC your data is safe and nobody except you has ever access to it.

I agree. Is there no way your program can be run on a linux server?

BTW StatsRemote always sends the stats of the active tab, so if you have the 'This Month' tab active it sends the stats of the current month, if you have the 'Today' tab active it sends you today's stats, etc...
