I'm not a huge fan of it. They seem too plain and simple to me. Nice cars I'm sure, but it doesn't seem overly good at any one thing and not that great at doing many things. If that makes any sense.

To each his own tho, I'm sure lots of people love them.

BuckLover 10-31-2004 12:20 AM

I don't know about caddy's kind of sharp cut lines in the design! They just don't do it for me!:2 cents:

LOL you kinda lost me there. I like the look and its solid performance wise to the sl500

Cadillac XLR
Base price $76,200
Engine 320 hp, 4.6-liter V-8
Zero-to-60 5.8 seconds

Mercedes-Benz SL500
Base price $88,010
Engine 302 hp, 5.0-liter V-8
Zero-to-60 6.1 seconds

I Know you can get amg versions of the sl but dam that gets spendy .

JulianSosa 10-31-2004 01:10 AM

Anyone?

KRL 10-31-2004 01:11 AM

One of my biz partners got one recently. Nice but really small and not designed for heavy guys.

Ya the interior is small but the overall car is a nice size and seems to handle well .

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 10-31-2004 01:19 AM

I like it.

How much are they?

76k new .. Some dealers are putting another 10k on that but the best used one I have found is like $68k with 3000 miles.

Manowar 10-31-2004 01:26 AM

It looks good, but a bit cramped.

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 10-31-2004 01:31 AM

Phea, to rich for my blood.

I am a thin little guy and after lookin at the interior I would fit perfectly in it:glugglug

I am still leaning towards a Lexus.

Morgan 10-31-2004 02:16 AM

I would rather have this caddy... (click pic for info)

There's a lot more to cars besides engine size, hp, and 0-60 time. Go sit in and drive both of them (if you haven't already). You should be able to find $12k (16%) or so of reason to go for the sl500 over the XLR. I like the styling of the sl much better, but that of course is personal preference.

Timbo 10-31-2004 11:11 AM

Julian,
I have one, and I love it. Had mine for about 2 months now.

Here in the Valley the Mercedes SL is really overdone.

Having one couldnt be fun anymore.

This Caddy Model however is not seen and its pretty pimp.

Lensman 10-31-2004 11:39 AM

Too small of a car for the money. It's in the class of an SLK, not an SL.

GTS Mark 10-31-2004 12:12 PM

Honestly the only guys I ever see driving those are 60+

I would much rather have a SL.

DH

GirlNinja 10-31-2004 12:33 PM

A friend of mine has one, we have a lot of fun it in. They are making caddies a lot better these days.

Vitasoy 10-31-2004 12:48 PM

For that kind of money, I'd rather have a something else.

Thurbs 10-31-2004 12:48 PM

i like it better than the SLK cuz everyone has an SLK.

Its much closer in size to the SL are you talking about the interior or something?

cadillac XLR Exterior Length: 177.7 " Exterior Width: 72.3 "

Sl500 Exterior Length: 178.5 " Exterior Width 72.0 "

slk Overall Length 160.7" Vehicle Width 70.4"

quiet 10-31-2004 02:30 PM

i've driven the SL when i was looking for a new car back in 2003. it's the ultimate luxo cruiser. i've sat in the XLR, but never driven one. kind of interesting, and good to see Cadillac finally doing something different, but I don't like the looks, and the interior is not really comparable to the SL.

jesus the SL car manual is thicker than the bible (literally). that car has every gizmo known to man.
