PC whizzkids: I need some help!

I visited a friend of mine today to fix his PC, it was infected with loads of trojans, virii and backdoors so I decided to format the HD and start all over again.

When I left it was running stable but he just called me and keeps getting "dns errors" when surfing, no matter what site he tries to get (yahoo.com / microsoft.com / google.com) he keeps getting the same error.

When I left internet worked like sunshine and nothing seemed wrong, can anyone help me out?

ipconfig /all
check the dns servers

or tell them to run
nslookup
it should connect to a dns server dyn/static assigned
it'll open a prompt, type in a domain like yahoo.com

bringer...

do you think resetting the tcp/ip will help? I read some articles about it.

resetting it how? disable the ethernet port and reenable it
also check and see if the dns servers are setup static or set to dyn assign

seeing how dns are setup is run> nslookup right?

resetting tcp/ip can be done this way:

run> netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

resetting tcp/ip can be done this way:

run> netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

do run> cmd
type nslookup
it should connect to the default dns server either setup or assigned
if not it'll give you an error that should help you figure out where the problem is
resetting tcpip wont change much, it sounds like a configuration problem, not a protocol error
