This is the software I use, burn the iso to cd, it is a bootable linux disk that will read the windows registry, and allow you to change/delete a password. I would suggest making the password blank to delete it, then when you reboot it should have no password, then you can re-assign it.

I have used this on windows 2000 pro, windows2000 server, and Windows XP

Well I don't know if it work like XP home, but some guy bought a laptop at a pawn shop and the previous owner had a password so he could get in. All I did to get around it was start in safe mode and you you see an administrator account that's not normally there. From there you can set new passwords. LikemI said this works with XP, but it couldn't hurt.
