Canadian healthcare system sucks ass

it's sounds great in theory, but holy shit what a clusterfuck. and i'm not talking out my ass. i always thought the concept was great. i have always supported the idea (and in a sense i still do). until i had to the use the system for more than a broken bone or a minor operation, etc.

it's a fucking joke. i could write pages and pages on how fucked up it is, but i'm not in the mood.

good thing they saved you so you could complain...........

Spunky 10-28-2004 08:23 PM

I have to agree...I'm not racist but all the fucking imigrants and their families abused it so much it fucked it up for everybody...
eg: I waited 4 months to get to a specialist...waited a hour to see him..waiting room full of fucking pakis..Took him 5 minutes for him to say yes that lump on your thumb has to be removed...Booked for surgery in 2 months time :BangBang:

i'd be in one hell of a lot better shape if i could have paid for the best. they are the reason i'm as fucked up as i am right now. i asked repeately for another ultrasound (to check for possible clots) before my flight from Van to MTL. they said it was not neccessary. sure enough i developed thrombosis and then a clot in my lungs. thank god for universal heath care. not. almost fucking killed me.

i would have avoided all of this shit if i could have just paid to have been checked out before flying.

the doctors now say i should have been checked for blood clots, and anti-coagulated before ever stepping on a plane. funny how they didn't have that attitude beforehand.

Well I feel better...I pay 0 :glugglug

TheSaint 10-28-2004 08:39 PM

I'm paying $1,000 a month, down from about $1300 because I raised my copays.

I consider it a genuine bargain for unlimited access to my choice of doctors and hospitals.

I worked in London for quite a while and everybody there said the system sucked too., you could wait months to see an idiot who decides your future.

But the U.S. system is also all fucked up. I can't do anything in life without first considering healthcare insurance, example if I move I need to get a new policy and if I happened to have any "prexisting conditions" I'd be fucked.

Wherever huge profits can be had, you will find deliberate mismangement to cover and hide it.

BradM 10-28-2004 08:47 PM

Personally I love it. I just think someone should be able to PAY for say priority service. ;)

xclusive 10-28-2004 08:48 PM

Last year my mom almost died from a blood clot. I wish I could say that money buys execellent medical care, but I can't.

Well at least you can go to a doctor. If I get sick and actually I have been, all I can do squat about it but suffer. Crappy heathcare coverage is better than NONE. Think about that one.

Fuck that. Fly down to Boston. We've got the best hospitals and doctors in the world here. 45 minute flight or 5 hour drive from Montreal.

Doctor Dre 10-29-2004 04:35 AM

Actually I love our system . People just abuse it way way too much.

I think they should charge you when you go there for nothing or some very little reasons

Uh, last time i checked they pay the same health care premiums as the rest of us....

Jer 10-29-2004 04:42 AM

Just thank God you don't need the brazilian healthcare system.

It was good for me a few times, but my mother had to lie once where we lived (that hospital is for people in another region) so I could get appendicitis surgery. They discovered and tried to transfer me to other hospitals but thank God they couldn't take care of me.

Now I pay for healthcare.

Jakke PNG 10-29-2004 04:50 AM

I only go to private docs, the free public healthcare sucks donkeyballs.

I nearly broke off my toe a few years back, I got a friend to drop me off at the local emergency place, they told me to go to someplace else who then told me to go back.. I just decided to go to a private place and pay a grand for them to fix my toe in an hour.

you couldn't pay? Most countries I know that have socialist health care there's also a private option if you want to pay for it.

Also are you sure it's the public health problem and not that a doctor made a bad call? It's not like an US is an expensive procedure.

flashfire 10-29-2004 05:01 AM

could be better but could be much worse:2 cents: go get a flu shot you'll feel better:)
