What kind of radar detector do you all have?

We have about $200-400 budgeted for one....

and with my wife being the speed demon she is and our next car topping out at 160mph, i think we might need a new one...something more trustable

any suggestions? been looking on ebay, and I found one with a ticket guarantee that comes with it...if you get any tickets the first year, they pay them...LOL...pretty fun shit

SinSational 10-27-2004 11:01 PM

i don't have a radar detector, but my last nokia cell phone you could enter a code in to it turn it in to a radar detector. i wouldn't count on that though.

I know, twisted is dead... :(

edit - I wil bet $1000.00 that I can nail ANYONE's correct speed using standard radar, regardless of your choice of "detectors". In fact, I will bet I can nail it BEFORE you have a clue I am on you. I am in Ohio, so anyone wanting to take the bet, come on over...

pornguy 10-27-2004 11:19 PM

I bought one about 3 years ago in my honeymoon, for $99 at a RadioShack. It rocks! I never got a ticket, and I have a very heavy foot!...
Performance is not always directly proportional to cost.

Radar detectors are only a warning of radar being used IN THE AREA. BUT, many things will affect it. Most people are pussy's about it and every time it goes off they are on the brakes. If you want to avoid tickets, and really want to drive fast, buy a CB. Tune it to channel 19, and everybody in the general area will be telling your where every cop in the city/county/state is waiting for you.

i got an escort, got shot with a laser which did no good and got a ticket, i dont use it anymore, fucking thing would beep going through the city non stop

I'm my own best radar detector, mind you the last time I was caught, I had a retired cop in the car. Gotta love professional courtesy. :thumbsup

yeah, you live in Ohio alright . . . that sure wouldn't work here.

You don't want a detector, you want a deflector, radar and laser, mounts in the grill

I got mine in a truck stop for about $50. It is no good in the city, but on the open road, it is great. Haven't gotten stopped once since I bought it (except in the city. Cop had a laser unit. Looked inside my window and said, "I wondered how you slowed down so fast." But a detector won't help with hand held laser. It will tell you that you were hit, but by then it is too late).

OK, my offer now extends to radar/laser deflectors.

$1,000.00 to ANYONE who comes here and wants to challenge whether or not I can clock your speed by either RADAR or LASER, regardless of the "detector" or "reflectoor" you think will avoid a ticket.
