Ebay buyer backed out, do I report him?

My dad "sold" a car on eBay but the "buyer" backed out. Besides posting negative feedback, is there something else my dad should be doing? I don't know much about eBay, I think I've used it once.

You can put a non-paying complaint . But all it will do is get his account suspended if he dosen't pay

Webmaster_Logic 10-26-2004 01:36 PM

Aint much you can do but leave negative feedback

ShellyCrash 10-26-2004 01:37 PM

I think if someone backs out on buying an item your only recorse is via Ebay- I'm sure your dad will resell the car- all this guy did was waste your time.

Put in the proper claims (Your dad will have to do this two times over a matter of a few weeks).

You will get the fees back on the sold item. (I'm not sure if eBay will refund the initial fee (they didn't before - which used to piss me off).

Basic_man 10-26-2004 01:39 PM

That's suck ! you can only put a negative feedback !

Yeh we aren't looking for anything special, just don't want this guy pulling the same trick with other people.

I really don't understand why people use Ebay to buy and sell cars, unless they are antiques

You can file a non-paying bidder report. If he has three filed against him, his ebay account will be suspended.

Filing an NPB report will also have the final value fees credited back to your dad. If he doesn't file an NPB, your dad will still have to pay ebay a percentage of the sale price.

This one was custom. Has a van lift. Small market, Internet is probably the best way to sell it.

You paid $40 to list it and $40 more when it sold.

You would get back the 2nd $40 and gain a free relist, you wont get the original $40 back.

send him a box of scorpions!

eroswebmaster 10-26-2004 01:54 PM

Yeah as someone said file all the complaints or you will be stuck with the fees.

I've tried to buy cars twice on ebay.
The first one was located in FL- so I drove halfway across the state only to find out they had completely lied about the condition of the car, etc. So it wound up a waste of time and gas.

The second one was in California. I was leary about an out of state deal to begin with- so I told the seller I would give him 1k down payment, put the rest in an escrow account and release the funds when the car was received. Then he changed his mind and wanted the full amount wired to his bank account. Yeah, right. So after almost a month of bickering I told him I was just going to fly out there and pay him cash for title and ship the car myself. He wrote me back "Nevermind, just sold it to someone else."

It kinda broke my heart because I had a REAL strong crush on that car, but due to his reaction I can only assume he stole the pics and was running a scam. What a dick. :321GFY
