Why is Icq the adult industry standard?
It sucks compared to the others and is so unstable for me. I lose connetion at least once a day. I wish we all used msn messanger but they limit to only 200 contacts.
Aim seems to be coming back with a vengennace. |
icq works fine for me
I don't know, Derek...I've used all of them....back in the day, icq was great. Until AOL bought them.
But, the others have limitations, too...including AIM... |
I love ICQ, I use it for years now. MSN suck ! Not professional, I use it only for my personal contacts !
old people
ICQ is horrible...back in the day it rocked but now it is just a hackers heaven. Feel free to use it folks, not me. I use yahoo sometimes, but I still prefer mIRC on my own IRCD. Just old school i guess...
:glugglug |
I like using trillian so I can accomidate to whatever my business contact needs...
We are moving towards GAIM versus Trillian for all our IM needs.
GAIM has excellent encryption. |
It's the standard because it was the first Instant Messenger service of it's kind and all of us computer geeks have used it since day one. We never migrated over to aol or any of the copycats once they came into play cuz they weren't as good. If you wanna be able to communicate with all the industry old timers, it's the only IM that most of us use, for business anyway.
One big drawback to most other instant messengers (aim, yahoo pager, msn etc) is that if the person you want to contact isn't online you can't send them a message. With ICQ you can, and when they come online they get it. That's one of the biggest drawing cards for me, because when things are busy anything that gives you an edge in the area of time management is the business tool of choice.
I've had very few problems with ICQ. I do notice in the past few years that if someone wants to send you a url in a message you have to add them to your contact list first, or you won't get the message. It never used to be that way, and several coversations were left hanging in limbo until I clued in to the problem. Other than that ICQ has been very good as far as I'm concerned. |
What's Gaim?
Trillion wont work for me. All my contacts show up as email address or icq numbers. I have used icq for years as well but I love the new features in yahoo's version of it. I admit my icq list is priceless. |

trillian pro and I have over 400 contacts on ICQ alone...
I think it's the standard since it was a very popular service YEARS ago...it stuck... |
Ive never used ICQ.
But I do like using yahoo. And they do alow you to send messages to people that are not online at the moment. |

ICQ or Yahoo are the 2 best... They both allow you to leave messages when the contact is not online.
Most of my "industry contacts" get to me through icq... but I prefer the speed and stability of AIM (which is what my mainstream affiliates and collegues generally use).
What I DO like about ICQ over AIM is the fact that if I miss an icq msg/get logged off before reading, etc. the icq message is still there when I relog on... w/ AIM, I might never know that someone has tried to contact me....And I NEVER want to miss important messages from DEREK!!!! :banana Cheers! |

MSN sucks balls I cant keep it online for more then 2 hours at a time
I've been using it for a few years and I don't feel like changing :glugglug
everyone can use icq, others are limited i guess. i like msn the best. but icq will have to do. i hate when people add me on icq then dont say anything.
Trillian :thumbsup
Jabber is where it's at. Complete, encrypted, interoffice(as well as on the road) communications. Need to talk to your icq folks, no problem just install an ICQ gateway, how about AIM...same deal. It's just beautiful.
I use Messenger2 - a lot like Trillian, except better :winkwink:
No way near as heavy, I also used dMSN (messenger the java-way), Miranda and others. I just found Messenger2 recently, but it kicks ass! :Graucho |
ICQ is what we all started using others have turned up and sometimes we have to add others but ICQ is certainly the most popular.
Try trillian :) it fix everythin
95% of my business contacts are on ICQ
I use yahoo for family/friends and have AIM, just don't use it much.... |
I don't know, just like it and use it since i first time cross on internet:)
I spread the love when it comes to the chat programs. I don't really discriminate too much.
I use trillain, so everybody gets a lil loving.:winkwink:
i started using ICQ around 7 years ago. always used the same account it is the best way to stay in touch with old and new peeps. however i discovered trillian and it rocks i still use icq for business but i like the way trillian organizes stuff. msn and the rest are for newbies and civillians who like to waist time sendin flowers and seeing pictures of people the only good thing they have is that you can talk to people with a microphone but 90% of them dont know how or their bw wont take it hence skype :)
anyways i like ICQ the rest are for people who don't make money on the internet. |
Because the lower your UIN, the bigger your dick is

because seling short AIM names never caught on..
the auto history feature is the primary selling point for me
I think when ICQ came out it spread like wildfire and everyone took to it.. and it became a standard of sorts because people just kinda stayed with it..
I like aim alot more lately.. better organization options..
icq the original and best :thumbsup
fuck ICQ. i only check that shit
once or twice a day. Yahoo Messenger has yet to fail me. (and alot of webmasters i know use yahoo mess. as well) :glugglug |
