good video camera (miniDV?)
 

I am looking to replace a cheap $400 miniDV camera I had a couple years ago that is now broke. I don't shoot content so it doesn't have to be the high-end canon (and I dont want to spend $2k on one ..)

Just curious what is a good video camera that can be used for digitial as well? Do you recommend Hi-8 vs MiniDV etc? Give me some good cameras in the $500-$1000 price range. I am basically looking for a good one for vacations, internext, maybe amateur type video shoots but nothing more than that.
