what software do i need to learn to start doing this for myself?:glugglug

photoshop. fireworks. flash. those 3 would be a good start.

Yep.... photoshop is where to start. And honestly, even though you feel so rapped by the price, it's worth it.

Design is either a flash pan attempt for some, for others its a way of life.

I have Adobe Photoshop. I can't do anything with it. I just have a knack for design I guess.

I'd say that you should get paint shop pro first and see what you can do with it. Once you've learned all the basics and can design some decent stuff with paint shop pro, than shell out the big bucks and get Photoshop

If adobe would bring their price down maybe I would actaully buy their software.

i use coffeecup for the html and photoshop for the images, i imagine thats what everyone else uses

Many people code HTML in text editors. It's not exactly rocket science.
