As an ex-Winnipegger I should probably take offense to that, but unfortunately that IS one of the best attractions.

Ask Sleazydream or Whitney from Conversion cash.com. They are both from Winnipeg.

Go to Portage and Main for an hour when it's 30 below and then catch the bus to Vancouver - it's just like the Scandinavian sauna / cold lake treatment, but in reverse!

Didn't the Jets leave a while ago?

I hear that shovelling snow is a popular past time there

Well there is not that much to do here.
Mostly bars, clubs and movies.
There is a downtown, I live there.
no snow yet.

We do have the Manitoba Moose hockey team.
Got some good shopping centers too!
oh ya the casinos are cool.

I find it quiet and boring here
I don't get out much anymore

Winnipeg has a surprisingly good live music scene, if you're into that sort of thing.

The Forks is a funky indoor market area at the fork of the two rivers, lots of good restaurants etc. Skating is popular there in the winter.

Cordyn & Osborne Village are other cool shopping areas, good for coffee & dessert.

Have fun!

wow this sounds like a fun time

:thumbsup

Winnipeg ranks very high on my list of the most boring places in the world.

Isn't Sleazy around there? Take him out for a beer. He's a great
guy to hang out with in person.

they will know the hot spots

murray_dawg 10-25-2004 04:34 PM

They have a pro hockey team? Sorry I thought they disbanded 10 years ago.

The Winnipeg Jets essentially became the Phoenix Coyotes. The hockey team they have now is part of the AHL - the Manitoba Moose. Since the NHL isn't playing this year anyway, might as well take your hockey where you can get it! :thumbsup

Depends what you're into, we have a world class ballet and a great theater if you're in to that kind of thing. We also have some great restaurants and good places to shop, like the forks. Our bar scene isn't bad if you know where to go.

I assume baseball season is over but during the summer, it's always good to catch a ball game. We have a pretty cool new ballpark. We have a nice new hockey Arena opening up downtown soon, you could catch an AHL game or one of the concerts that are coming.

If you're a young man the commerce social at the convention center is the place it be on Halloween, so I hear.

If you're staying downtown check out the fairmont or the Hotel Fort Garry if you're looking for an upper class place, the delta for mid-range. The best tip I can give you, when you're downtown or at the forks, don't travel north. :winkwink:
