I can tell you that living in Amsterdam is more expensive than most places in the US. And plenty of other places in Europe as well. Wtf you think we are? A 3rd world continent? Idiot. |

adis55, you dont a thing about prices in Croatia, or even life in Croatia..
you should be comparing salaries to the US and Croatia, and then try to draw conclusions.. and you can't compare eastern and western european countries :2 cents: how can can you compare a country like Croatia to the US which is not even in EU? |

I hate to see people suffering. :thumbsup -Dino |
always depends if you buy or sell :winkwink:

I don't see it improving if we have Bush re-elected.

From my understanding, the switch over to the Euro highly increased prices as well. For example in Italy what was once 1 lira was now 2 euro....but peoples paychecks stayed the same....so basically doubling the cost of goods without any increased salary to match.
I think it's more expensive to live in most of Europe compared to the U.S. |

I had cousins visiting from Italy here just a few weeks ago and they complained that it's still the same since the Euro switch....things cost twice as much but there paychecks are the same as before. Maybe it's just Italy then? |
Ok since this thread switched from the original topic I will start bitching too.
A Chrysler 300 cost here 3 times more expensive (in the Netherlands) than as it cost in the USA. Before I even can buy this car I first have to earn much more money because I pay a shit load on taxes on every single euro. So when I finally want to drive I have to pay a shit load on money for gas, insurrance, road taxes, fines etc etc. I receommend all Americans who have never been to Europe not to answer in a thread like this if you don't know what the hell you are talking about. Europe is expensive and the $ has already been devaluated enough. I like the US, please don't be angry to me :winkwink: |

the countries taht weren't in EU were not affected (as) much. |
No, it's not only Italy, wages didn't increase and prices not only increased but they keep increasing.

I don't know how it is in poland but I'm 100% sure houses in the netherlands are way more expensive compared to houses in the us... [/QUOTE] I have lived for almost half my life outside the US, and what you are saying is true. The EU is VERY expensive, the average standard of living is lower compared to costs, and the average unemployment rate is much higher than the US (it's actually DUOBLE in Germany what it is here!). With the trillions of dollars lost from 9/11, the US tresury has worked had to weaken the dollar to bring back our economy. It has helped US exporters and foreign investmentsin US business in a BIG way, but unfortunately this has been very detrimental to the EU, and the big banking organizations in Europe are trying really hard to weaken the euro right now.:2 cents: |
why do people even bother to try and "convert" the ignorant americans on this board ? ? its beyond me
I am not saying all americans are ignorant because that just aint true , there a lot of americans that have a realisitic idea about how life in europ is and how it is not but sadly there are also lots who have no clue whatsoever but love to make all sort of claims about it this of course goes both ways , there are those from europe that make the dumbest claims about americans in general ......... |
sucks!

http://www.finfacts.com/img/costofliving50cities.gif As you can see, 6 out of the 10 most expensive cities to live in are in Europe. New York follows on #12. Even Dakar, Senegal is more expensive than Florida. Sometimes its just too funny. |
and yeah ... it really sucks!

Before money changes 1DM (German Mark) was around 1.000 Italian liras. So, on the day of the change, 1 euro is changed for 2.000 Italian liras... Then, I would really like to know about club in Croatia where you can get dring for 50cents... Here in Budapest you can't get drink in "normal" club bellow 2-5 bucks, and the prices are very simillar in Belgrade and Prague as well... And, I'm paying my apartment $650 per month without bills (phone, Net, power, etc...). Nothing spectacular - 72m2... Gaseline is $1.30 per litre (x3.78 ~ $4.9 per gal)... And I need $6.000 for the camcorder which you can by in USA for $2.900... |

I guess i would be in shock, when I was in Europe, (in the Army) in the pay line we could change our $$ into marks, 4 marks =$1.00... downtown it was 3.50 to 3.80 marks.

Why not just order a PAL camera from BH in NYC and have it shipped to you in Hungary? If customs finds out they will take the camera? |

I drive a ten year old car I paid four times the price I could have bought the same car in the UK. I also have to pay four times the cost of fuel here compared to the States - The dollar has now dropped through the floor - 30% lower in real terms of that I was making online 4 years ago - and now I can litterally only use usa ccp's based in the states as Visa is slowly pushing all the online business that way- I work harder to make up the difference and do not complain - But some of you Americans really ought to get your asses outside the country and look at other people's points of view without being so uninformed, arrogant, and often quite amazingly clueless about life outside of your own toilet. |

Gas, $1,3 per liter. 1 pound of steak goes at around $10 and we pay 35% in income tax :( |
