Has anyone been experiencing weird popups lately, from sites that never had popups before? Like thehun or worldsex? I've just discovered a IE browser exploit/spyware that keeps a list of high traffic domains, and when you visit one of them, this exploit throws up a popup and closes the page you are trying to get to. Not every time you visit though.
So far the popups have been for wet4free and a site called greatplugin.com which has a blue background.

The company behind these fucking popups is Blackstone Data, scum bags! Here's their site http://www.blackstonedata.com/ . On that site they have uninstall instructions at http://www.blackstonedata.com/uninstall.htm . While you're there, take a look at their privacy policy, what a joke.

There's also BHO Cop, which I'm using as I don't want to remove this until I find a way to royally screw these fuckers. This let's me turn it off/on. http://www.pcmag.com/article/0,2997,...53D4453,00.asp

Also check for a file called domlst.cch in your c:\winnt\ (or c:\windows maybe for win98). This file has a list of all the domains that this shit will fuck you around on. They seem to track were you go, then add similar high traffic sites to the list. When you visit any of the domains, they steal that domain's traffic and make the user think the domain is the one with the popups. Then there's the scumbag companies who buy the traffic from these assholes. Voice Media Inc. (ntcor.com) seems to be one of them.

Can you tell that I'm pissed off? Popups everywhere are bad enough, but this is going *way* too far. Is this the future of the Net? More and more abuse? WTF? Gee, I wonder why conversions are the shits, and why people seek out the safe heaven of the top TGPs.

Here's a list of the adult domains that this "company" thinks they can steal traffic from, they have amazon.com, bn.com and other major ones also, but the list is way too big to post:

Wow... take some Prozac. GreatPlugins is a dialer for Offshore Clicks. Don't know much about Blackflag or whatever it was, but from what I think I read, this comes as a part of the package for downloading a dialer. (could be wrong here, I'm just wingin' it) But at least they are giving up the instructions for removing it. Looks mainly to me like new marketing tricks. Sure it sucks, but then competition is always a bitch.

Actually, GreatPlugin.com is the url that TelcoWeb uses for its plugin/Active-X dialer .. It isn't offshoreclicks dialer, it is Telco's dialer and offshore is using it(smart move on their part) ...
It is legit and has nothign to do with whatever was mentioned above...

I promote that dialer, (even though I'm about ready to swap it out for something else), but was just a guess that whatever that "extra" program is that's bundled was probably coming in on a piggyback ride with a dialer, judging from the quote: "It arrived on your machine as a co-bundled component to another software you may have consented to down load or as a part of an agreement to view certain premium content."
I've never personally downloaded a dialer so don't really know, but I did say I could be wrong... apparantly I was. Apologies.

Angel asked at the bottom of his/her post what the software could be that could have been downloaded. All I did was suggest where I thought it was coming from. If I was wrong about where it was coming from, then that's my bad. I also posted an apology for it in a post right under that, although I don't know what for. I never for one single minute defended what they are doing. I don't work for that company. I'm not a fucking software attorney. I don't know if what they are doing is legal or not. But I DO know that to suggest "going after" someone for something with which you have no research, data, or proof of legal wrongdoing is probably not a good idea. And I'm not afraid to say so.

So what exactly is it that YOU are defending by attacking me like a vindictive little brat? Oh yeah.... now I remember. This is the fucking "Oprah Feel Good Hour".
