Comments on my first photoshoot...
I took my first photoshoot with a model yesterday... I used an inferior camera while my new one is still on backorder...
Do you think this girl will work out doing a single amateur girl nonnude site? http://www.model-bambi.com/members/images/test_shoot/ |
the chick's not exactly my cup of tea, but some hornball out there will dig her :winkwink:
nice photos, i'm trying to get into photography myself.. been designing for years and just started a few small tgp's and linkdumps, on to the next aspect of adult :thumbsup |

Put the girl on a diet. She needs to lose about 10 lbs IMO. :2 cents:

Lose the flash and get some real lighting.
Lose the girl and get one who looks like they want to be in front of the camera. If you're gonna shoot non-nude (or even nude), you need to get the girl to play to the camera and tease the audience instead of standing around like she's posing for mug shots :2 cents: |
The lighting is bright but fine for a real girl next door amateur site, but if you want that pro look invest in some umbrella lights. Lighting is everything and the key to killer looking photographs.
|
eewwww...
|
I'd slap her around a bit. :winkwink:
|
not bad...tell her to try slimming a bit, then get some light adjustments.
|
she's average I'd say...
|
HELL NO!
|
Seems that you lack confidence
in directing your model how to pose and smile, and where her hair should lay, etc etc. one pic looked like she was takin a pic for Weight Watchers...(the one where shes in front of the mirror turned sideways.) but, as they say, practice makes perfect. :thumbsup keep at it and learn as you go, and you'll be alright. |
Not my type....
|
Quick and dirty way to diffuse light: wrap a tissue around your flash. You may have to adjust exposure to compensate.

Well, a naked chick will sell no matter what. www.southern-charms.com has taught us that in a BIG way. But you need to learn how to prep a model.
#1 She HAS cheeks. Blush is for girls without them. Maria Shriver is a good example. She sucked all of the fat out of her face so she can paint it on every morning. Somehow that is easier. http://www.model-bambi.com/members/i...s/image65.html That is a picture straight on to her cheek. The enormous ammount of light dumbs down the makeup and she almost looks natural. THAT photo should be the basis of your preperation from now on. She should look like that at all times without lighting and poses to play with her features. #2 Hair. Putting her hair in a ponytail was a bad idea. She has good hair. Let it go. #3 Lighting. I will not lie to you. She is a chunky model. Nothing wrong with that. I'd fuck her. But difused lighting is a must with chunky models or you have to many shadows because of her plus sized features. Basically she is good looking, but you fucked it up. With 2 light sources on either side and a white umbrella behind both to difuse the lighting this shoot would have been about 28% better. Add another 12% for makeup and hair being done a bit more professionally and it is 40% better. If the shoot is now looking 40% based on the feed back I have seen thus far, you are looking at a 80% shoot. I can sell 80% easy. Half of the models on single girls sites are only 40% models with a professinal shoot adding another 40%. So go and do it again. This time put more emphasis on the prep than you do on the shoot itself and the shoot will come together on its own. |
Being a photographer my self, I guess I could say a few things...
Dont worry too much about a kick ass camera. Get lighting and maybe read a few books on how to light a model. Also, like they were saying above... Get a model that wants to be there. It might help if there were some nice backdrops. But a $29 p/night hotel room wont make any one smile too much. Rent a studio next time. They usually have lights that you can use. However, if your going for the "my boyfriend shot these pics" look, you have nailed it. There are photographers and GWC's (guys with camera's) Hope that wasn't too harsh. Just telling it like it is. http://brandnewbabes.com/graphics/bnb-jelena.jpg |
OK, you caught me in a decent mood... I decided to show you graphically what I was talking about.
Original pic: http://www.model-bambi.com/members/i...s/DSC00347.JPG What I did to it: http://www.rhinosthumbs.com/gfy/model1.jpg #1 I did her hair. Simply put, I removed the shit that was sticking out all over the place and made it look kept. #2 I added eye shadow. It seems like she has concealer and or blush on her cheeks and forhead only. Bad move because it just made the rest of her face look white. It should be used eavenly and in a SMALL ammount. As in thinly. #3 I powdered her face. This helps keep the concealer from looking like a wax mask that is oily in the direct lighting. #4 You want her face to be as similar in tone as you can to her bodies natural tone (unless you conceal and powder it too). So when buying the products, they should match her body when applied to her body. It should look like you are putting a clear gel on her because it is the same tone. #5 I tried to leave some freckles in her face to match her body and give the teen impression that will sell her so well. Good luck and I hope you go ahead with her and a few of her friends. I look forward to promoting them. |

Calling bad photos "Boyfriends Pictures" will not cut it. Girls pose for lovers prior to having sex with them, so the "Come fuck me" look is on their face, not "Pay me and Fuck Off you loser" GFED forget everything written and listen. :) Go and practise with your camera until you can use it blindfolded. Then start by shooting friends and work on your skills at making paople feel comfortable in front of your camera, develope a personality that you want the model to display in the pictures. Most models are reflections of the photographer and a sign of the relationship between them and the shooter. The worse thing about the pictures is the thought in the models head, it's your job to change it. |
i think it looks very amateur =) that is a good thing :thumbsup
|
You avoided the mistake many first timers (and working "amateur" providers) make... You actually used light on the subject (except for the middle pic.)
|
Not too shabby.. But watch out what kind of makeup the model uses... Her foundation is the shiney kind, and it makes it look like she's wearing a ton of makeup. Have her use ONLY MATTE foundation for shoots, or as little as possible. Minimize on the makeup, but if they are going to wear it, make sure they don't use blues or whites or light colors.. matte browns or darker colors show up better in pictures and are generally more flattering.
The mirror in the background catches the flash a bit much and is distracting, creating some artifacts that are a little undesirable, but with practice you can learn to shoot around that kind of thing. It's all about angles. The face is a touch washed out in some of the images.. that's probably the camera flash, which is hard to control. If you are using an on-camera flash, a good idea might be to diffuse that light a little bit when you are in a position where her face seems to wash out a bit more. An old pair of nylon stockings over the flash will diffuse that light a bit and give a pleasing result. The model looks a touch nervous... A good idea is to have her sit and practice her facial expression in the mirror.. or if it seems she's clamming up a bit and getting self-conscious or starting to make funny faces, crack a joke, I find that always helps lighten the mood and you get that natural smile and the light behing the eyes that says she's having a good time. Again about the mirror.. there are a few pictures that we can see you in... This is the problem with shooting where there are mirrors, you have to really watch out that you don't get included in the shots... play with the angles so that you can get her and her reflection, but not you and your flash.... Generally I suggest staying away from mirrors until you play with them a bit more, they really can be a challenge. All in all, pretty good stuff... Good framing for the shots, good centering, good overall composition. Most of the stuff that I pointed out are technical things taht come with time and practice. I'd be pleased to offer some more suggestions, feel free to hit me up icq 3522039 or email treasure at teeniesxxx dot com. Well done! :thumbsup |
Well, in my opinion, if you are going to have a single girl non-nude site she better be hotter than hell. Not to be insulting, but I am not sure she has enough of what it takes to pull off a non-nude site.

However, I would sugjest fine tuning a few things. In some of the shots you can really tell you used a flash photoagraphy. professional photography usually uses a hard light (IE: a spot light) and a soft or "reflective" light. Something that would shine off from a white poster or bristol board to give an almost glow feeling. Also when dealing with just strictly photographs you would want to use base makeup to covor up or hide any body blemishes. Unless you're nitche for the site is to be amature it's really not a good idea to do otherwise. I'm not sure if you know how to use or even have Adobe Photoshop but having some knowledge in that program will help a great deal in editing some of those pictures. The model you used for the shoot was, I thought, really cute. I dig her very much. However, I couldn't see myself paying a monthly subscription to see a girl I could eye hump at any local Mall. Like I said before, unless the site is geared twords a more amature "girl next door" angle you need to find some H-A-W-T girls. Also, don;t be afraid to tell the girl what exactly you want. If she doesn't smile the right way just tell her to make a wider or more sexyer smile. You are the one behind the lens and you need to tell just how beautiful the subject is or isn't. Don't be brash about it, Be polite. The girls needs to almost seduce the camera. Also it wouldn't hurt to pick up a few books on photo editing and amature photoagraphy. I'm not saying that you need it. It's just great to have the books as a reference. Hit me up on ICQ: 314-148-986 |
