Ever been audited by the IRS?
 

I just got the letter. I've always paid taxes on time and never fucked around with them, but it's still unnerving.

If you ever had this done how did it go for you?
Was it easy and no big deal or was it like getting a root canal?

So many people I give money to (hosting, traffic, content, tgps) only have paypal addresses and this letter wants hard addresses.
All those fucking receipts I have to dig up.

My father was audited for 7 years in a row. A group of senior university professors across the U.S. sent a letter of protest to the White House for (at the time) U.S. foreign policy support of the Samoza Regime. We discovered later on that our home phone was tapped by the F.B.I. for several years too.

I think you got pulled for a random audit which they are doing alot of again.
I have went through two audits in my life.
First one was an absolute cluster fuck, got audited when I was 18 and by that time self employed for over 4 years. Knew very little about reciepts and bookkeeping. They were alot like OSHA and just found random shit to fine me on.
Second audit happened when I was 26, this one I went in prepared. Brought in seven years of reciepts, records, copies, bank statements, etc. and a tax attorney. The auditor was just completely overwhelmed and left to found an easier target I suppose.
