How about a nice FRIUTY FACIAL?

Summer is the time when we should have abundant fruits and salads.
Consuming it does wonders for the body, while the fruity facials could
result in a peachy complexion.

Fruits can be used to make a wide range of facials that are totally free of
chemical and animal substances. Once in while instead of using a
ready-made facial packet, try making your own concoctions, a home
facial and you will be surprised to see their effectiveness. The 'peach'
that you eat could be applied on your skin to give that 'peachy'
complexion.

Watermelon juice
It not only acts as a deep cleanser but also helps in tightening the skin. It
is particularly good for dry, prurient skin. It also helps in getting those
unwanted lines out from your face.

Lemons
They are full of vitamin C. As they are constrictive, they make good facial
masks, skin tonics and cleansing creams. They can restore the
necessary acid balance to the skin, which we often wash off when
cleaning the skin. But one should remember pure lemon juice has a
drying effect and should not be used too thoughtlessly on dry or normal
complexions. Lemon also makes a good cleanser.
Take 3 tbsp of buttermilk and freshly squeezed lemon juice and whisk
both together thoroughly.
Apply liberally to face and neck and clean off with cotton wool.
For cleansing scrub take 1 tbsp each, finely shredded lemon peel,
finely ground almonds and fine oatmeal.
Mash the ingredients and take some of the mixture in the palm of your
hand and mix with water to a soft paste.
Spread evenly over a thoroughly cleansed face, taking care to avoid
the tender skin around your eyes.
Massage with small circular movements for 2 to 3 minutes.
Rinse off with lukewarm water and pat dry. This cleansing scrub is
suitable for all types of skin.

Strawberries
They are slightly acidic containing vitamin C. Although acidic, they make
an excellent face mask. Mash 3 large strawberries and apply as a mask
and leave on for 10 minutes. Was off with rosewater. Strawberries
cleanse the skin and leave it sparkling clean. You can even make
cleansing milk by adding ¼ pint of milk to 3 large liquidized strawberries.
This milk not only cleanses but also helps to improve the skin's tone and
texture.

Bananas
They are rich in vitamin A and potassium and contain no substances to
provoke even the most sensitive skin. An excellent facemask can be
made out of this. Mash and sieve half-ripe banana and add 1 tsp honey
and 2 tsp cream to it. Bananas are very rich and soothing and this mask
is marvellous for dry skin.

Pear
It contains a disinfectant and have an astringent action on the skin,
making them especially suitable for use on greasy, spotty skins. Mash
one ripe pear, sieve it and use as it is or mix it into a paste with powder
milk. This thoroughly cleanses and tones the skin, leaving it feeling
exhilarated.

Peach
A mixture of Peach, honey and mayonnaise provides an ideal facial to
nourish and soften tired-looking complexions. Further, it can also be used
a cleanser by adding peach and milk. Add ¼ pint milk to 2 tbsp fresh
peach, skinned and sliced and allow to stand for eight hours. Then strain
and massage the milk into the face and neck for about ten minutes before
rinsing with tepid water.

Apples
Fresh apple juice provides an excellent eye bath. A mixture of apple
pulp, oatmeal and witch hazel, tones and cleanses the face; it should be
left on for upto 15 minutes for dry/normal skin and upto for half an hour for
greasy skin.

Tomatoes
They are generally considered a vegetable but in fact it is a fruit. The
acids in the tomato thoroughly cleanse the skin keeping it free from
clogged pores and discouraging blackheads. Simply cut a slice and rub
it over the areas where you tend to get blackheads. Tomato makes an
excellent toner. Mash a tomato and strain through a sieve. Mix pulp with
some oatmeal and you have a lovely salmon-coloured toning mask.

Thus we see that it is possible to make excellent facials with easily
available fruits that will do your body and your skin good. Do try and you
will be pleasantly surprised at the texture of your skin after few times of
such constant pampering of the face. As always regularity in whatever
you do will help get better results. Patience too is necessary for no
overnight miracles are possible.
